whenever my phone breaks, is unrepairable or too expensive to repair, is no longer supported with updates, and/or when usability is frustratingly slow.
my AC+ expires this year so if i drop it and it gets damaged then instead of paying Apple £300-500 for a repair i'll just get a new phone. if my battery degrades significantly i'll pay apple to repair it.
if i have my phone long enough that it slows down (and a new battery doesn't help) due to iOS then i'll buy a newer model. if my phone no longer gets iOS updates then it's time for a new phone.
i'm done buying a new phone all the time. the only reason i went with the iPhone 12 Pro Max which cost me £1,350 (include AC+) was because i was planning on keeping it 3-4 years. there is absolutely no chance that i'm spending £1,000+ every year lol.
