What will persuade you to purchase an iPhone 5?
The same thing that kept me from getting the iPhone 4: A 4" screen.

The difference this time is I will no longer be holding on to my old iPhone. Plenty of great phones out there with 4"+ screens.

I'll echo others and say that a 4" screen is a must for me to upgrade. 3.5" is simply long in the tooth in present day.

But I'm not sure if it will be enough. I really want a 64 GB option too. The combo of a 4" screen + 64 GB will make upgrading a no-brainer.

I don't really care about a bigger screen, I don't think I have ever been using my iPhone 4 and said man I wish I had another 1/2 inch... I would trade that for 64GB in a heart beat.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_5 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8L1 Safari/6533.18.5)

All it will take for me to buy an iPhone 5 is for them to release it.

Bigger Screen
Notification LED
4G
Coming to Sprint?

I need some of that, maybe not all.

When they make an iphone that actually functions well as a phone t h e n I would get one. I need a real phone, not an iphone!

It might be AT&T but then again it might not be...

I can assure you it's _not_ AT&T.

I have three other phones on our family plan & AT&T's call quality is excellent. Plus I myself have my 2 AT&T lines. One is my iPhone 4, the other is my Samsung Galaxy S II.

When my iPhone drops I pickup my Galaxy and enjoy a good strong signal which assures a great call. The noise canceling system Samsung has is just fantastic.

It is ATT... The proof was seeing my wifes iPhone on Verizon as compared to mine on Verizon. It is a huge difference.

I'm undecided.

Maybe 64GB and a little more screen real estate may tip the balance in favor of me getting the iPhone 5.

Otherwise, I still love my iPhone 4...I was one of the lucky ones who received it the day before launch...and it has been the perfect "fit" for me.

I won't buy it unless it has a bigger screen.

I would buy one if it has just two features:

1) A proper antenna so it works as a phone.
2) A true 16:9 4.3" HD display like my SGS II.

These are so basic it's hard to imagine why Apple seems afraid to include them.

Yet that said if Apple would have been the first to equip an iPhone with this beautiful screen, their would be total acceptance by the loyalists. Because Samsung beat them to it, Apples all bent out of shape.

Too bad they allow ego to override common sense. Apple would rather sue, fight, and generate chaos, than do the right thing.

Leading the pack with massive sales & profits, is still not good enough to satiate Apples greed.

I'll probably get it if it is offered on T-Mobile. I had an iPhone 4 but recently got married and switched to T-Mobile to be with the rest of my family.

How Cell Phones Work 101:

Every carrier has coverage maps that show the areas their phones work in. Each carrier is different. Therefore the proper method is to choose the carrier that serves your area best, then pick the phone.

If you pick a phone without paying attention to coverage areas it's a huge mistake.

The only exception out of the more than forty phones I've owned, is the iPhone. They didn't match their chips to the AT&T network. Therefore they've been marginal in performance.

Apple sues to protect its IP because its shareholders expect it to do so. Its purpose for existence is to make money, and part of that is protecting its assets. To do otherwise would be irresponsible and would diminish the value of the company. Then the board could potentially be liable to shareholders whose assets' value was diminished because Apple did not live up to its responsibilities.

As to whether Apple will do what's "right" in its design choices for its products, I'm sure the company is motivated to give consumers what the company thinks they will want. There is nothing "right" or "wrong" about screen size or proportions, they are merely the design choices that you want Apple to make. Although I would like to see those things, as well, I am doubtful, because a change in aspect ratio would cause havoc for existing apps. Remember, the iPad has exactly twice the resolution of the iPhone in each dimension. Apple could give the iPhone the same resolution as the iPad, but this would still not be 16:9, and would likely result in a significantly larger phone.

Anyway, all I want is an A5, LTE and a decent antenna.

The iPhone 5 would have to include some earth shattering feature that I absolutely can't live without in order for me to upgrade. I am honestly looking forward to iOS 5 more than new hardware. I also switched from AT&T to Verizon in June, so unless I want to sell my 4 to fund the purchase of the 5 w/o a contract, then I will be sticking my 4 for the time being.
