What will the iPhone 5S need to have to be successful ?

I think for the iPhone 5S to be successful it will need to take market share from non iOs. Just having existing iPhone users replace their phones will just put Apple on par with a utility stock. So what would it take for Android smart phone users who are already users of iPads or Macbook Air to switch to iPhones?

1. The text input in iOs is very slow. The swype utility in Android is essential to many, because of the rapid speed at which one can enter text and that too with just one hand.'
2. Ability to customize the home screen by shortcuts like direct dialing.
3. Ability to block calls without having to jail break your iPhone and buy an App.
4. Increase the width of the current iPhone without increasing the length (height).

What will #4 do?

The iPhone 5 went to a standard size ratio.

#3 - You can do this as part of iOS7.

First you'd have to define sucessful. It isn't going to replace all the non-IOS devices no matter what it has in it.
Millions and millions are sitting with old phones just waiting for it to be announced no matter what the features. All the new plans the communications vendors are coming out with are designed for people to buy more

OP if you phone battery is hot and battery dies that quickly you have something running away on it or something wrong. I can go 2 days without charging if I want to. I assume you've read and done all the thing you can do to restore normal battery function

I still find it amazing that Apple thrives in the smart phone industry with basically two phones, the "smaller 4 versions" and the larger 5 version. When over that same time period (3 years = 4, 4S, 5) there have been probably 200+ different Android models released.

Apple simply needs to produce a new phone and it will be a success.

This has been said so many times but Apple has continued to ignore this plea. I have given up hope and will just use the S3 until a larger screen iPhone comes along... Sigh.
