You're crazy, this is a message forum for people to discuss things about the iPhone, which I'm doing. According to you, we should all just go along with whatever Apple or ATT do, and never complain or speak out.

Discussing it once or twice, fine. Discussing it for about the 1000th time just isn't necessary.

The month I used my slingbox heavily, I went over 2gb....

I found it streams at about ~300kbps on high quality.... (rough estimate, cleared the data usage and watched for 20 mins, did some math)

300kbps = 37.5KBps

2.250MB per min

Thats 135MB per hour.....

14 hours of slingbox will use more than 2GB

So if you use the slingbox more than 30 mins a day, you will get near the cap....

Well, if you don't want to keep discussing it, stop reading any threads about it, and start some threads about topics you deem us worthy of discussing.

Owned.

I wonder how long before you realize that nobody actually cares what you say.

You didn't "own" anyone for pointing out a typo. You see, Mr. Been a Member for a Couple Minutes, we don't think pointing out spelling errors is "owning" someone, we think pointing out someone who is wrong using logic and critical reasoning is.

And about caring what I have to say? Eh, I don't care too much myself. I saw two factually wrong statements and corrected them, even if I did so in an admittedly snarky way.

This is great info, thank you for the break down.

I just wish AT&T would realize that they are screwing their customers.

My thought is that it sounds like you really need to keep the unlimited data. Just wait patiently for what will probably be 2-3 weeks until the next Jailbreak is out.

Personally, I used just barely over 200 mb last couple of months. I could downgrade, but I won't. It's not worth saving the five bucks to get 2 gigs, and I fully expect that with OS 4.0 my data usage will start to skyrocket. Multi-tasking of course being the main cause. Tethering might be nice, but it isn't something I desperately need, not enough to get butt raped by At&t on the charges for it.

I don't see why you would be so bothered now considering you already have miwi, you obviously don't mind "cheating" the system so why the sudden morality? I use miwi and I will continue to use it.

Funniest roundabout admission of immorality I've seen in a while.

Why would anyone defend the $20 tethering fee?

Give me one single logical argument why it is necessary?

I'll defend it. I'm an AT&T shareholder and an iPhone user. I both don't want to pay for and don't want my service to suffer because some people insist that if they pay for the buffet, they should be able to take food home for the whole neighborhood for the next week.

Why should you pay for Internet at all? Perhaps you and all of your neighbors should go in on one cable modem subscription. Hell, why not just tap directly into the electric grid and bypass the meter. You do pay a connection fee.

I don't think you understand that $30 per month doesn't come close to covering the cost if everyone uses their connection 24-7. Nor does comcasts cable modem pipes, nor does the telephone grid. There are assumptions about average use. Tethering shifts that assumption. Even within people on the 2gb plan, the assumption is that there will be a bell curve, probably centered around 300-500mb. By tethering, you're almost guaranteeing you'll consistently be on the far edge consistently. They can charge you whatever they want' You're free to go get a palm pre...

Keep in mind, if they did offer 'unlimited' so that you can watch tv while you drive, the rate would probably go up as more people do more things, and rest of us would be continually subsidizing your bandwidth. I don't really want pay more to do that. K? Thx.

Like you mentioned the bell curve,

Here is the problem for the stock holders... today...

if more than 50% use less than 200mb of data, every one of those 50% can get the really cheap $15 plan. Lost money for att...

Because people like my friends mom whom used 4MB of data last month still pay $30, is that fair? no. But it is $$ for AT&T.

AT&T sells 24mbps Uverse, of course at $65 they can't possibly afford you to use that 24/7. It's a given with unlimited products that some will abuse the system, but a large majority will be using way way less than they pay for.

That's all very nice but the fact is that most of these TELCO companies are making a hefty profit. So the $30 tethering fee must be covering something....

The issue I have with a tethering fee is that it seems that you pay for the same thing twice. I pay for a 2 GB data plan but when I want to use it on my iPad they charge me another $30.- for the exact same 2 GB??

Must be nice :)

Master, I am not sure, and that was part of my concern. Sling went to 3G so we could use sling like other smartphones. Now AT&T is taking that ability away by capping the data. My work only has hard lines and locked wifi. so cant do it there.

I've a question. Why aren't you working when you're at work instead of watching TV? If you're company didn't mind you slacking off, I'm guessing you'd have access to their wifi.

You must have only read some of my post. where in my post did I say I wanted to watch TV while I was working? I clearly said I watch my slingplayer ON MY LUNCH BREAK.

Another poster asked about WIFI access at my work. If I had access to the WIFI at work I would take my lunch and use it in the break room.

What I do on my lunch break is my business and mine alone. When it is time to work that is what I do.

It's morons like you who cant read all of a post before posting an idiotic statement. Please only post where you can actually understand the whole thread.

If you're that worried couldn't you just buy the new phone unsubsidized and keep your current one that already has the ability?
