Found money!

My point is that you're acting as if you're getting a mini for $229, which you are not. You are getting it for $429.

I'm not the person buying the Mini, but I do see your point. However, it is like "found money" (or at least fun to think so:)), most of us have no problem paying $599 for the iPhone.

Credit

I'm leaning towards a 4gb ipod nano. I can't find much else i want that 100 dollars in apple store credit and 50 dollars cash can buy!

I just bought a 4GB iPhone for my kid. My local Apple store still had some, and after the credit is applied it was only $200. I figure that's a pretty good deal.

My point is that you're acting as if you're getting a mini for $229, which you are not. You are getting it for $429. This type of excitement is exactly why in store credit is such a valuable marketing tool.

the way i see it, it is a $229 Mini. Apple didn't have to give me the $200 back from phones i decided i wanted to pay $599 for in the first place. if Apple never announced a rebate/credit i'd have to pay $429 if i wanted a Mini. now that i got $200 "free" from Apple it's only $229 of my money that i need to spend on it. and of course store credit is a valuable marketing tool, but where else is someone going to hand me $200 to buy something? i wasn't expecting "free" money from Apple. they didn't have to do it, but they did to make themselves look good. no one else does something like that. i bought 2 iPhones at $599 because i thought they were worth $599 each. how is this any different then if i bought 2 widgets at $599 each and then some old guy says "you know, i think those widgets were overpriced, here's $200 back just to make you feel better" and hands me $200 that i can go spend elsewhere? my money was going to back to Apple anyway. i was going to get an AppleTV or Xbox 360 for a media player, but after this credit announcement i decided to just get a refurb Mini since it's cheaper then what i was originally going to spend out of pocket anyway. so i'll correct my statement and say i'm getting a Mini for 229 of my dollars, sound better?

Bought a second iPhone the day the prices dropped, so the wife and I both have one now. Registered yesterday for the credit and ordered an 80GB iPod Classic to put all our movies on. Plan on hooking it up to the DVD player in the car for road trips so the kids don't have to cycle through all those DVDs.

2nd iPhone!

My $100 credit will be spent on a 2nd :apple:iPhone (for my beautiful wife)!

OK, done. Bought the 2nd :apple:iPhone tonight. Activation took only 2 minutes as opposed to 11 hours as it did with my iPhone on iDay!

i bought a $100 itunes gift card... Apple says it cant be used for that, but i just went in the store and got it... They didnt say anything about it...

Airport Express 89.99
$15 iTunes gift card

So I killed off the $100 gift card and paid $8.45 for the extra (including shipping).

Works for me.

I bought an Apple TV (160 gig) and I absolutely love it. I wanted the big hard drive so that I could sync lots of music, tv shows and movies without having to stream, so others could use it while I'm away. I know it has limitations (such as only streaming itunes content, so I can't stream my slingplayer over Apple TV), but I love having my 50" TV turned into a big stereo. The interface alone is worth the experience.
