What would have happened if the black iPhone 4 were unavailable at launch?

I would have passed and just waited for the black. I don't like white at all. To me the white looks like cheap plastic and gives the phone an appearance of a junky imitation throw away phone.
I know you made up that figure, but realistic I bet it is (black:white) something like 60:40. There is not a huge difference as far as what people are choosing, and with the iPhone 4's redone color scheme for the white one it definitely broadened the potential buyers.

That's what I hear, but I am afraid the fingerprints are going to get on my nerves. I dont really care about the screen but all over the phone

Yeah, I thought that until I watched more of the videos. Looks a lot classier when you can see the way it refracts light, etc. Photos tend to make it look plasticky.
my comment wasn't sexist, it was meant for people that personally don't like white or think it's feminine and try to state ridiculous 'facts' to back their mindset up.
when you're looking at a majority and then you state 40-45%, that's nearly dead even (while i'm sure you meant the opposite, you state 45% of women own white which would mean 55% of men, the majority, own white). if you were to say 70/30, that would be different, but again, that would likely be false. white and black are hardly gender specific colors. going back to my point with the nanos, a wider color range may be able to be more easily broken down by gender, but not white and black.
that's like the old white/black macbook. people would post that they don't like white because its feminine. did they feel that way before there was a black version? or before there were black ipods? please. it's people insecure with themselves and talking out of their ass.
