Down south
Not sure what I’m going to do yet. I’ve been itching to go with a 45 or a SS41 since not long after I got my 7. I’m not sure if I’m gonna just try to get a deal on a 7 or go with an 8 - waiting to see what comes.

I’m just curious what others are hoping for, and if they are contemplating upgrading from 7s.

I’m contemplating picking up a Series 7 (currently using an SE) if I can find a good deal on one. The updates to S8 look minimal so far.

From what I’ve seen of the S8 I would not upgrade from an S7. Three day battery life might be something that would change my mind if I had an S7 today.

I'd upgrade in a second if they finally got rid of that incredibly annoying shrink/zoom when using the Infographic Modular face. Assuming they do it to conserve battery in AOD mode, I guess it would require a better battery or more efficient display.

Well I’m really only considering a change because I want to either go larger, or get SS (asked about this months ago and STILL can’t decide which - can’t/won’t do both because of the weight of the larger SS). It’s why I was thinking I may be able to grab up a 7 if there isn’t much change, but sticking with what I have is also an option.

A bigger watch face and it automatically being waterproof without having to remember to turn on the water lock button. I ruined an Apple Watch by not turning that on once. They just need to be water and dust resistant automatically. Also I'd like a more rugged looking watch. So if the Pro has those things, I'm in.

The water lock thing just expels water. It doesn’t make it water resistant. The resistance is there regardless.

None of the rumored features are worth upgrading from a S7, for me that is.
If you want a different size/color/material - that is a different story.

Yeah I may just hold off til next year to make a change. I have struggled with the decision anyway, to either go bigger or go stainless. I would love a stainless band for my everyday band, but not gonna do that with an aluminum watch. I think the larger one would also be nice for better readability.

I went from an aluminum S3 to a SBSS S4, noticeable difference in weight but I only wear Nike sport bands. If you’re going from a 41 to a 45 and add the weight of a stainless steel band I’d imagine a much more noticeable difference in weight.
If you have an Apple store nearby, I’d check the weight of that SS band, just hold a sports band in one and the SS in the other…

If I go to a 45, I would stick with aluminum. I’d only do stainless in the 41 because of weight. I haven’t been able to decide about size vs SS.

Stainless with aluminum is fine. I’m using a stainless Juuk Velo with my midnight S7 45mm and it looks great. In fact, now is a good time to get a Juuk band as they are on sale ;)

I went for the recent $529 deal on the 45 S7 Stainless Steel. I’ve had SS series 1,2,3 & 5…then switched to Red S6 & S7. Just sold my red S7 today for $290 (FB Marketplace…locally) after paying $309 for it. I loved the product red but the color was limiting when it came to band choice.

The stainless is sharp! I love it, and it goes with everything so well.

The Apple Watch Pro would get me to update if it has a slightly larger screen.

I hope they announce it very soon.

You got rid of your red watch?!

As long as that makes you happy. Sounds like you got a good deal. :)

I, too, was excited about the 8, but the rumors weren't sounding that significant, but I was gonna go for it anyway because they were supposedly bringing back silver aluminum, and I had a S5 silver aluminum I wanted to upgrade.

Then Amazon had that deal: $529 for a new S7 45 silver SS.

And I thought man, that's the same price I'm about to pay for a cellular silver Al S8 that doesn't seem that much of an upgrade.

So I got the 45 silver SS. Wasn't sure about the weight, but I'm actually like the watch a lot and noticing the weigh rarely. I am fortunate to be able to own more than one watch, so I trade out when I'm wanting smaller or lighter.

All this is to say this sounds like it might be a great time for you to experiment with a different size or metal (or both) on a discounted 7--so if you don't love it, you maybe don't feel like you 'wasted' as much money.

Also, if I could choose only one watch though, I would go with my 41 SS. Love the big 45, but if I could only have one, it would be the 41 for weight, aesthetics on my wrist, and still big enough to read.

Just some thoughts. Good luck!

Exactly:). I’ve got the apple leather band, many different shades of blue bands, yellow sports loop, red bands, white, charcoal, black, etc…. They all work with the stainless steel. That’s what I missed most when diverting to the product red….which I loved too:)

Yes, It was really tough to let it go:( But, honestly….it just makes my life more complicated having two watches (ie which to wear:). I‘ve had many iterations of the SS model and used it for everything. So, it works for me. It was really tough to let the product red one go though!
