I am still using S4 SS. I recently did a battery service so I essentially got a brand new watch. I am very happy with the performance and all the features. There is not a single feature on S5 or S6 or S7 that I would need or even want, and I don't believe there is anything compelling about S8 either, so I will continue to keep my S4.

I think S4 is the keeper, just like iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6S used to be for many years and still might be!

Yep I have a S7 45‑mm Graphite Stainless Steel Case with Sequoia Green Leather Link.
Love it.....will not upgrade until they include a blood pressure sensor.
And I don't notice any weight difference from my S5 aluminium.
+1 That’s where I am. If, as rumors suggest, the regular AW8 will keep the same design as the 7, lose some colors (blue/green), add back silver color, gain low power mode and add a temperature sensor, I‘d have no reason to opt for an 8 over the 7 that I currently own.

If however, the regular AW8 somehow, miraculously got an all new design (squared off perhaps), some fresh colors, and was compatible with legacy bands, I might make the jump. I’m within the return window for my SS AW7.

I have a feeling the former is true and I’ll be sticking with the AW7 SS:)

What can I say, i’m a sucker for new tech no matter how incremental the upgrade. We aren’t around forever and I want to experience all of it as it’s introduced.

I’m really bad about this myself. Trying to be practical this year if I’m even capable of that. ;-p

Keeping the AW SS Series 7 after seeing the AW 8 updates:)

And just like that, I ordered the AW Ultra lol. I’m not gonna use most of its features I’m sure but the bigger screen and extended battery life are welcome upgrades.

Well I still can’t decide if I should get a 45mm aluminum or a 41mm SS dangit, but I will go ahead and get the series 8 version of whichever one.

I ordered the 45mm for delivery next Friday, but I’m really torn and wonder if I should cancel for a SS 41 delivering at the end of the month.

Update - went ahead and ordered a SS for delivery at the end of the month. Hopefully I can make up my mind what I want by then.

I have the AW3 SS 42mm. Battery life is 85%. 1 hour weight lifting workout drains it by 10%. I only use it to look at the time and track calories. Other than that it’s a shiny thing with the stainless steel band. Would you upgrade if you used it in my way? Yea it’s slow and choppy but I don’t interact with it much and it lasts all day after 5 years. I guess would be nice to have always on display and more info on the screen.

As of right now, nothing. I'm extremely disappointed in the 8. I was hoping for an updated design. Something tells me the 9 will take design cues from the Ultra which would be a true upgrade.

The new watches didn't meet the threshold for me to buy. Now I very much wish I'd splurged and bought the series 7 in titanium when it was still available. Ah well, my series 4 worked out nicely for a solid 3 years, presumably my 7 will as well, we'll see what future years bring.

I pulled out my Series 2 Space Black Stainless Steel AW this week, to wear for running, workouts, etc… I was using it while waiting for the Apple Event today to see if any of the series 8 features would cause me to return the AW 7 SS that I purchase past couple of weeks. Didn’t want to risk marking up the S7 SS in case I decided to return it.

I was surprised that is still worked fairly well. Slow between swipes for sure….but the fitness features worked perfectly and the watch is still without a mark in the body (DLC coating on the Space Black SS) or the Sapphire display. Nice!

I should try and sell it for $100. It would be a great watch for someone wanting to use it for the basics!

I have an AW5 45 and like it. Battery life is my primary complaint. Without sleep tracking it has been mostly fine, but it has gone flat a few times lately unexpectedly.

But sleep tracking is something I want to do. There just isn't enough time to charge it between when I finish my evening workout and jump in the shower and bed time. If I'm not working out, I can do two days of sleep tracking with what it can get between shower and bed. But it goes into power reserve on day two about the time I leave work, and then I need to leave it to charge overnight or I can't get through a day.

Here's hoping the fast charging plus a new battery on the S8 will do it for me!

I went ahead and upgraded from my S4 44mm Aluminum to the Ultra with the orange Alpine band. I’m beyond excited for a new watch and can’t wait to test it out.

1. I'm one of those females who benefit from the new temperature sensors.
2. My 7 has a few scratches and they really bother me.
3. I upgrade every year anyway and sell my old one for a good price.
4. I love the current design and I'm always afraid that Apple might change it next year.

I definitely wanted to test out the temperature sensor in the Ultra. Plus my S4 is getting slow and it’s time for an upgrade. I figure 4 years mean it’s time for a new one.

Worth watching - AW8 is sometimes better in heart rate recording than AW7
