I'd put it in the bank, but assuming you mean computer hardware...

A quad 2.66 Mac Pro with a Radeon X1900 XT and a 30" cinema display, 2 TB of hard drive space, 4 GB RAM, and a fully loaded MacBook Pro.

i'll buy 30% worth in AAPL when it dips to around $80~, 30% worth in INTC at $19~ and 30% in MSFT at $27~. The other 10% will be in the bank.

Ten thousand dollars isn't a whole lot of money nowadays as I spent $12K on my last vacation.

Dunno, guess I would spend $10K on a 3-week vacation in Africa or South America.

If I had ten grand and could fast-forward to June...

And insurance coverage for it.

1. 30" ACD
2. Mac Pro, Dual 3.0 ghz Quad Core, 8 gig RAM, 1TB Storage
3. 15" MacBook Pro, 2.33 ghz Core 2 Duo Santa Rosa, 3 gig RAM
4. Microsoft Office 2007
5. Adobe Creative Suite 3

Of course #2, #3, #4, and #5 aren't out yet so I guess it stays in the bank for a while.

And I do have $10k, but I also have a daughter who will probably need a college education someday, so I'll probably only buy #3 and #4 and then send her to a state school. :)

What vacation did you take that you spend $12k on? The Moon? Or did you also pay for the trip for 25 of your closest friends? I can't imagine spending $12k on a vacation for myself?

dude:

I took my family (4 of us) on a cruise and it was 12k all said and done. I must admit it was a life changing event. Have you ever had a week where everyone you met was either pampering you or partying with you? if you have $12K, it's worth it. I have to admit, it's been a year and I have to constantly focus on the everyday tasks of working/living to forget one week of opulence :(

8GB iPhone with 2-yr plan - $2,000
46" 1080p HDTV for LR - $3,500
surround sound system for LR - $1,150
32" 1080p HDTV for BR - $2,000
another PS3 for the BR - $600
Best Buy gift card for games/movies - $750

$7,000 on a rainy day fund. The rest on the little loose ends that need to be tied when you have a HDTV, PS3, Wii, xbox 360 and MBP 17" already.

That would be games, cables, hard drive upgrades, keyboard, mice and bluetooth headset.

Less debt :(

Right now it'd go on a plane ticket, I kinda stoopidly took a holiday and only bought a one-way ticket 'cause it was such a cracking deal with a 20% saving. Now looking for a one-way back and it's three times as much, doh!

I don't know about $10,000, but yeah, you could spend $2,000 on the iPhone alone I'm sure... Maybe more if you had an addictive personality and just couldn't limit the amount of time that you use it.

"I know I've used 9,000 minutes this month but I just can't say no to you my precious..."

I'd buy a top of the line Harman Kardon, Marantz or NAD setup, a really good 5.1 or 7.1 speaker setup, a nice pair of Audio Technica headphones and, to top it off, an full HD LCD tv. And then, when there's anything left to spend, I'd buy my girlfriend a little present.
