I like the thinness and sleekness but I think the rounded edges make it look less sexy and stylish. Is there any way they could have made it with the same squared edges as the 4/5 but thinner and bigger? If so why didn't they?

Also, would you have preferred it was smaller than the 6? I would love something between the 5 and 6, maybe 4.3/4.4, just slightly wider than the 5 and maybe a hair taller. The 6 is just slightly too big to hold and operate as comfortably as the 4/5.

How bout you?
Move the Home button/TouchID to the back. Then, make as much of the front screen as possible.
And then, make it more bendy. /s

I would love to see a scaled-down 6 in a 5c shell. I like the look and feel of the 5c, but want the extra camera features offered by the 6.

Do most people not realize that smaller bezels would require sacrifices? Yes I know other phones have smaller bezels but they don't have touch ID and the same camera.

Bit thicker if it helped with the bend issue (or extend the metal from the volume buttons further) - sure it might only affect a few, but it's still something I'll always worry about.

The only thing I'd change about the 6 series is to make the Space Gray more black.

Well, the black on the 5 didn't go too well.

I think the 6+ is slightly too big for one handed usage, and the 6 is a little bit too small in general. For me the perfect size would be 5.0" or 5.1"

TouchID anywhere on the screen, NO MORE HOME BUTTON. Time to get rid of the massive button...

Make the plus so it doesn't bend .

I don't know if we've gotten to a point yet where it's economically feasible to integrate the fingerprint sensor under the touchscreen. But I would be happy with a slightly smaller home button to allow for slimmer top and bottom bezels, like how Apple made the click wheel smaller on the 5G iPod to accommodate the larger screen on a device with the same overall footprint as the 4G.

Sure... And just make it a scanner, not a button... They can make it do the same double tap, but have no ability to actually press in. Have it always active, or heat activated.

That too. The home button and power button have always been weak points for iPhone quality. There was a period of several months where the home button on my 4S just refused to work. I do feel this is one area where Apple has long lagged behind Windows Phone and most Android phones.

I believe that the mechanical home button will eventually go away once TouchID can be integrated into the display. A virtual home button can be made using pressure-sensing technology developed for the Apple Watch.

As far as iPhone design, I would explore using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) for the unibody. I don't know how the cost would work out versus CNC machined aluminum, but CFRP may have some advantages:

CFRP is a carbon fiber matrix with plastic as a binding medium. It can be made pretty tough and resilient. I believe that radio signals can pass through, negating the need for glass windows or antenna lines. It has the advantages of plastic, but increased strength. And Jony Ive can say how great Carbon Fiber is, instead of talking about the phone being "unapologetically plastic".

the location of the on/off/sleep button.

omfg, it's a terrible location. it's just right opposite the volume buttons. and every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

i always inadvertently hit them.

Somewhere in the Western Hemisphere is a designer, goes by the moniker J.Ive, if given permission I'd imagine he could create a beautiful fresh new design.

I'd trust him to make it much nicer than the current recycled old style.

But that would involve additional expense that poor Apple may not be able to afford. Plus rumor has it their customers will settle for anything... :)

Curious that you suggest Ive is constrained in some way. Why do you think that? He's the head of design at Apple. The only person above him is Tim Cook and I seriously doubt Cook is second guessing his design decisions. Cook isn't Jobs.

After many years as an Apple customer and buying various Apple products designed by J. Ive, the iP6 series simply doesn't reflect his style. It is a near copy of earlier models and is simply too featureless to impress.

Anyone who can't follow along need only to look at the stunning, radical, beautiful new Mac Pro, there's a very current example of the mans great talent in design. He could have restyled the iPhone but didn't. I have no idea who blocked that from happening, yet I do have a full understanding of how dearly Apple worships money.

By failing to restyle the phone, they make even greater margins. Apple simply couldn't pass up that opportunity. They know their apologists and excuse makers will have their back.

Better check out his interview with Vanity Fair from two days ago, because according to him this is the first one that's truly his design from top to bottom.

Yes, I read that. Frankly the timing is suspicious. It's all lollipops and roses Puff piece to put a good spin on things.

Personally I think bendgate isn't the problem it's being made out to be.

I do think Apple has haters now that they wouldn't have if they'd act like they appreciate their customers and drop the narcissistic Steve Jobs behavior.

People have had enough of Apples superiority BS. No where is it as obvious as in this forum. Very few people would speak their minds or criticise Apple until this past year. They were programmed and intimidated, but slowly they're taking back their own authentic voices, thinking for themselves and awaking to the reality that Apple only wants their money... All of it!

I would make the following changes:

1. Make the phone a little thicker so the camera doesn't stick out.

2. Dual front facing speakers. I love the speakers on my HTC One (M7).

What does that have to do with Ive's comments on having designed the 6? Looks like one big dodge to me.
