Problem is, my primary job needs to take precedent. I did look into being a Special Constable (unpaid cop) but I needed to commit to a certain number of shifts per month - something I couldn't do.

you can always find somebody or some organization that needs help....no matter how much time you have or don't have

or you can buy an old boat and work on fixing it up

1) Plot to take over the world on Fridays.
2) Learn an instrument!
3) Read more books!
4) Travel! Four-day trips are great.
5) Cooking. Definitely.
6) Get into some kind of competitive sport- even a video game! (there's a lot of good competitive fighting games, personally I travel to Smash Bros tournaments- and there's always golf, pool, chess, poker, etc) You'd be amazed at the commitment it takes.
7) Help hook up your buddies here xD

So what is your actual job? Surely you didn't come here to just floss that you make $150k+/yr and work half of what everyone else works, while also conveniently ignoring people's questions about what it is you do...?

Not ignoring - just not on here for a while.

I work in tv. I wasn't 'flossing' - more trying to show that I'm not looking to spend my free time earning more cash. My annual turnover is more than enough.

I really do want to get an old car and learn how to do it up - but I need a garage to do that and I won't have one of them for a couple of years yet. But that's on the cards, thanks.

Buy all the consoles you can buy and start playing all the games you want.
Watch all the movies you want.
Then go study Japanese, so you can play Japan-exclusive video games and watch Japanese animes and read Japanese Mangas.

With all due respect to the OP, I kind of feel when people have this burning desire to create a thread or any type of discussion that involves their salary, that they're here to flaunt it and/or get some sort of attention from people for some unknown reason.

OP: I believe you have the ultimate job, it's great that you can work 2-3 days a week and pull down 6 figures. That's truly what most people would likely love to do. Good work. *pats back*

You could learn to multi-quote. :p

If I had to work 2-3 days a week, assuming they were consecutive, I would likely take a few more short trips with my camera. Oh and be able to clean my house all in one go instead of cleaning one room at a time late at night. /shrug

I'm one of those poor dumbasses who works 40-60 hours a week.

Start a web business. That'll keep you busy, and if it takes off you can flog it and start again :)

If I only worked 2-3 days a week, I'd spend more time with my family. My girls are growing up and that time is fleeting. Spending time with them while they're young is my priority.

Do something that you're passionate about but try to help in some way at the same time.

+1 - Do something you're passionate about, while giving back.

BTW, renewed, care to share the source of your income? Very impressive!

I know how you feel, I'm living off a trust fund that makes me over £10k a month, and I have all the free time in the world and don't know what to do with it all [\s].

Maybe try:

- Learn to play the piano
- Write a book
- Do some charity work with kids
- Volunteer to work cabin for BA during the strikes
- Take flying lessons

:)

If I was in that position I would:

Race Cars in an amature circuit
Learn to play the drums
Go fishing a lot more
Spend lots of time camping or outdoors in general
Learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

If I was working just a couple of days a week I'd post my wage as often as I could.

Bugger, was beaten to it.

I am so lucky - I have a job I thoroughly enjoy, earn around £100k per year and only work an average of three days per week (in extreme cases, some weeks I don't work at all, sometimes I'll work 10 days in a row).

But man, am I bored! This week, for example, I'm working just four hours on Thursday evening.

So what would you do with all this extra time (keeping in mind that, although plentiful, the free time is quite random)?

I would pose nude for photographers.

Invest wisely so you can be a philanthropist when your older? Then you'll be able to keep yourself busy figuring out who to give your money to :D.

Also, what DO you do? I know you said you work in TV, but that's rather generic, I assume for that kind of money you must be doing SOMETHING rather specialized. . .

Likewise for the person who volunteers with horses, I mean good for you giving of your time like that, but what do you do inthe other 20 hours of "real" work (the money making work)?

Personally if I had that kind of time off I'd be at the gym a LOT more, and training 5-6 days a week in martial arts. Right now I'm stuck at 3 days, maybe 4 if I'm REALLY lucky, and have to try to squeeze weight training in on the other 3 days. Not fun when your working 12 hour shifts.

I would have to be retrained every week. I'd have to relearn everyones names and how I got to work. Maybe if I split up the days at work... Three days off, one day on, two days off one day on....I could remember more that way.

Due to the nature of my work and my burgeoning expertise, I might find myself in a similar position in about a years time. I'm trying to decide how I want to handle it. As it stands I currently work six days a week, but that's soon to go down to five, and from there four. I'm trying to decide if I want to stick to five to keep a semblance of normalcy, or pack my schedule to three or four days and do something with the remaining time. I'm considering a four day schedule with a day of volunteer work at community centres to rehab people who can't afford my services elsewhere, or perhaps further my education.

I'd play a ****-ton of golf and get my handicap back down to a 4 (preferably lower this time around). If I were making $180k, I'd probably join a decent country club so I could play a decent course and practice whenever I felt like it.

Well I'd go to the gym, beach, cycling, shopping, explore the outdoors, golf etc etc :)
