Anyone else disappointed after reading the thread title? :D

I'd leave a terse positive feedback like - good transaction.

When you receive it, make sure everything is on the up and up, then I would leave positive, say shipment was delayed a few days and the ad was misleading about being in stock. That dings them a little for being dishonest, without wrecking their feedback.

So the Seller lied about having the MacBook.

So My question to you guys:
What would you do if this or has happend to you? What kind of feedback would you leave?

Do I need to slap you upside the head? Like really? You're complaining about somebody LYING to you and then you're asking what you should do in terms of feedback?

Can you not see the hypocrisy or even the irony of the situation? Here's a hint: If you don't like people lying you probably should start with, I don't know, TELLING THE TRUTH. Yes, even in the feedback.

Don't complain about people lying and then consider doing the same thing in your feedback. Just makes you look like a toolbox. The truth is pretty easy too:

"Seller did not have item on hand but communicated and resolved the issue by shipping the item slightly later than expected"

Why bother pissing off the seller? You said that you were expecting it by Saturday to begin with. You got it earlier than that. The seller did what they could by overnighting it to you which they more than likely took a hefty loss on. If they would have shipped it ground, you very well may have still been waiting.

There was good communication and a correction to the mistake which may have actually acted in your favor. I see no reason why one wouldn't leave positive feedback...

And if you think it would help the seller, who is a newbie, btw, send an email explaining that the ad was misleading. That way, improvement can be made, but you let the seller know you are satisfied.

Like I said before though, I'd use the computer for a couple of weeks before actually leaving feedback, just to be sure.

My post above was satirical

I reckon you should communicate with the seller before leaving feedback. If the product and shipping wasn't as advertised, mention it in feedback. It doesn't sound like it was negative, as you recieved the product as advertised, but it doesn't sound positive, because the seller wasn't telling the whole truth.

Positive feedback means you would buy from them again, while negative means you wouldn't. Would you buy from the seller again?

Thats fine. As I said, I wouldnt buy something off ebay.
Seller reviews mean nothing. I can have 30-40 people go write positive reviews for me too!?

You need to reconsider especially for items like AppleCare, MobileMe, and other non-expensive items. You can buy those for really cheap. We had that discussion before, but seriously it is well worth it. I have bought those items (AppleCare) for the last few years on ebay and I have never got burned. Seller reviews and how long they have been doing ebay is definitely important. I also only pay through paypal IF I ever get burned (they will take care of you). On big items I'm with you though.

Yea i agree! Littler things i would buy on ebay. Not something over $1000 like a macbook!
Ive always been the "in store guy". I like to see it, feel it, buy it, and leave right then with it in my hands. and im just to impatient to order anything!;)

I agree I'm a in store guy but the deal was to good to pass up and I kinda had to because of my parents.

There is a huge storm headed for Utah tomorrow. They are estimating at least 8" dumped on my town in the next 24 hours. This should be interesting. I wish you luck in receiving your package!

Well It was brand new in the Box! Everything is perfect. No slanted keys no dust no lid or battery cover problems... Just Awesome hehe.

I would just have the person ship it overnight and get it over with. It seems like the seller is apologetic about delaying the product. I got mine off of eBay too with significant discounts and I have no qualms about it. :)
Edit: Oops, reading back previous posts, I guess I'm a little too late with my advice. I'm glad everything turned out fine.

Glad everything worked out nicely in the end. Just remember to be honest in your feedback or else you really haven't learned the most important lesson from the whole thing - that honesty is important.

I wouldn't really call it lying, because the seller probably thought it was as good as "in hand." Also, the fact that the seller communicated with you about it, without your having to ask is another good business practice.

Yes, it was an inconvenience, but hopefully the savings will more than make up for it. I would leave positive feedback with a note about how the shipping was slower that it should've been. Has the seller left feedback for you yet? That's another thing about eBay. You want to be careful that they don't leave you bad feedback.

Keep in mind that 108 positive feedbacks is a newbie eBayer. I would never buy a computer from anyone with less than 1,000 feedbacks and a score of 98%. Hopefully the machine will be flawless and over all it will be a good experience for you.

Edit: I wouldn't leave positive feedback until I had completely checked out the computer though! I waited two weeks to leave feedback on mine.

Sellers can no longer leave negative/neutral feedback for buyers, only positive.

Looks like they sent it just in time. That storm I mentioned dumped a good 6 inches on us overnight.

Glad you love it! I hope your luck continues.
