Well, if he planned on working afterwards, he could probably make a sizable down payment.

If I had $1,000,000 US.

- $200,000 to my parents for retirement.
- $100,000 to my brother because he's my brother
- $20,000 for flights

- the rest, with no real allotment in mind, is to invest the money and support myself while I'm in Japan, looking for a job, learning some Japanese, and just hanging out.

I'd probably put away $250,000 or so for collage. And then..
-BlackBook
-New monitor
-Apple Keyboard
-Pay off my debt on this blueberry iBook (And then since I would have a BlackBook, chunk it! :D)

And I'd save the rest.

Pay off my house, my car and then buy my wife a new car. Buy a MBP for me and my wife and get matching furniture for the whole house. Then I'd save the rest.

In most places I know of, a McMansion would set you back a million, let alone a "grand home".

Personally, I don't need much more then what I already have, but I see a lot of people in need. Okay. I might spend a little bit to finish my landscaping... I would really love to have a paperbark maple out back...
