People are crazy. A redesigned iOS? This is one of the (if not the) most successful mobile operating systems ever. Apple can't make enough iPhone 5s right now to meet the demand. Technical and non-technical people love them. What is the problem?

Those who want Apple to completely redesign the hardware and software spend too much time on the internet where everyone is negative about everything. The screen isn't big enough. 5 million sold in 3 days is a sign that Apple's downfall has begun. The maps are a blight upon the earth. And so on, and so on.

From my standpoint, smartphones are plateauing a bit. The hardware will change slightly, and so will the operating system, but for the most part things have leveled off. iOS is super-intuitive and a redesign is no joke. There would need to be years of testing before they could risk alienating millions of users. For a company in such heated competition, that isn't an option.

We just want a new look to the os, not exactly a total re-do. Just give us some new colors or allow us to choose from some skins. It's literally been the same thing for years now. Humans are human and we tend to get sick of things that are the same forever. Give us a personality.

Ever jailbreak and use Winterboard?

That's reason enough for me to hope that Apple never enables theming of any kind. I like my phone to move at more than a snail's pace.

I like the UI. Clean simple and intuitive. Please note that Microsoft changed the UI in the desktop OS Windows 8 and I'm sure that isn't going to work out well for them.

Things I would like to see:

1. More programmable do not disturb feature. Maybe even calendar based like one user before me said.

2. Better camera. Always include a better camera.

3. 128GB Storage

4. More color options for the phone outside of Black/White.

5. Magnetic charging stations like the Palm Pre.

6. Enhanced Email Client. Options like select all messages and ability to set out of office for Exchange accounts.

7. Customization. Color themes for OS and iMessage/SMS.

8. Improved durability. Design a sexy phone that does not require a case that can withstand keys being in the same pocket, drops from x feet, and scratch proof.

9. Dropbox sharing/storage feature built into iCloud.

10. Ability to block callers via voice and text within the OS. Block list.

I don't know what kind of jacked up themes you were using, but WinterBoard on my 4S was great. It handled every tweek very well and I would have to be running a system wide themes with several other system tweeks before my 3GS because unusable.

Brightness slider in the dock. Ability to add other quick settings to the left dock swipe area. LED notifications. Bring back Google maps for good.

SWYPE!!!

iOS is awesome, but the lack of a physical keyboard means typos galore.... swype is the coolest thing ever! BRING IT TO iOS!!!

iPhone 6: LED notification light in the home button
Mag Safe like connector

iOS 7: Anything other than the grid of icons. Something that isn't so stale. A weather widget on the lock screen. Just something new.
Quick setting toggles in the notification pull down like airplane mode, wifi, cellular, etc.

I'll once again add my wish for Snoozing Reminders. Why I can't say 'Remind me again in five minutes' is lost on me.
Me too, not sure why Apple won't or can't add Snooze to the calendar reminders. Snooze has been around for centuries.

----------

Ability to open link into a new window/tab in Safari browser. When I'm browsing, I may want to click on a link and open up in a new window, so that I don't lose my current browser window. I do this all the time on my desktop computer.

I think the general consensus is there's not a whole lot more companies are doing to innovate for smart phones right now. That said, is there any feature you would like to see in iOS 7 or iPhone 6? I haven't used Android, so I don't really know what they do good that Apple could include. I'll include my list:

1. option to show things in lock screen (brightness adjust, bluetooth, weather, etc.)
2. get rid of the home button - use some kind of finger sensing technology instead of a button that constantly fails.
3. option to include items in Notification Center (similar to #1)
4. fingerprint scanner - if done well, could be neat.
5. NFC - Not sure how much use I would get but I wouldn't complain if it was included.
6. Optical camera stabilization
7. More memory - the 5 is a lot better, but memory is always nice.
8. Do Not Disturb - set certain days only instead of all the time.

1. I don't think people want this in the lock screen so much as the notification center.
2. I have never heard of anyone's home button failing "constantly" or even once, for that matter. Unless they beat it up somehow.
3. Agreed.
4. Apple doesn't do "could be neat" with their products.
5. See #4.
6. This doesn't fit with Apple's push for thinner and lighter phones.
7. I'm assuming you mean RAM, and sure, more RAM is always nice. Affordability is too.
8. Really? Just turn it off on the days you don't need it...

Cool. 1 out of 8. Meat Loaf's odds were better.

The only thing I kind of liked about your list is that it didn't reach for the stars. People need to stop doing that and keep their expectations of what Apple will do within reason.

Please wait while I upload a picture of myself, hoping this statement was facetiousness.

2. I've had 2 iPhone home buttons fail, and my iPad 2 seems to be going out on me.
4 & 5 - If you don't care for these that's fine, but that doesn't mean Apple can't do them well.
6. I'm not sure how it would affect thickness and I would only want it included if it didn't.
7. RAM is memory.
8. Or they could easily include days to turn it on/off.

Yes I was trying to be somewhat realistic, although I don't see them doing NFC or Fingerprint scanning. But I wouldn't be mad if they had them if they were able to do it well.

I would like something as simple as the option to see all unread notifications in the lockscreen, not just the ones since you last locked the screen.

UI unification - for example, make all the toolbars on the bottom of the app to the new style (e.g. App Store, music etc.) Stop the colour changing status bar. Unify colour schemes (esp new music app! how the white/silver/grey overlaps itself all over and over again is just crazy)

NFC integrated with fingerprints - the only way to do NFC securely, is to include fingerprint sensor.

Well, iOS needs a major redesign - not the format of the OS, but how it looks.
