the poll doesn't make sense because there's more than 1 thing we want.

how about these new features:

Wireless USB

SSD

HDMI

USB 3.0

Thinner & Lighter

Wimax

Only one thing I need the most out of all the options is no more NVIDIA GPUs that crap out in a few months..

I'm hoping for -

Support for up to 8GB RAM
No "timebomb" graphics card
Montevina
1920 x 1200 display
Accessible hard drive
MB Air style black keys

I'm hoping for -
1920 x 1200 displays

I assume that you mean on the 15" screen? My 17" is already running at 1920 x 1200. If so, why do you need it on a 15"? Most external 24" monitors run at that rez, there is no need for a 15" screen to use it.

User replaceable ram/hdd

...the RAM has always been user replaceable, but I agree with the HD - every other laptop that I've owned has an easy to access HDD.

hello!!!
I hope for

1.magnetic closure.
2.High Def new display NO glossy option
3.Air keyboard but no way black...
4.WiMax
5.USB 3.
6.Max RAM 8GB.
7.tested GPU.
8.smoother dvd meccanism.
9.glass trackpad.
10.better price.
11.greek language support....

1. Meh.
2. Uh, no. They'll have both options.
3. Meh.
4. Not happening.
5. Heck no.
6. Very, very probably.
7. Seeing as nVidia has not released anything about it and Steve e-mailed me and said they are fine, stop worrying.
8. Smoother than... what?
9. Only if it has a screen.
10. What's wrong with the current price and updated specs?
11. It... has that...

I chose quad core processor, I don't know if thats a realistic option though. I would like to see LED backlit screens in all the models, also SSD in all with capacity up to 120 GB, blue ray dvd burner would also be a nice option and last but not the least HDMI many organization even home users have these latest LCD TVs that have HDMI ports which could be used as displays in office environment or even at home. We at our office use 52" plasma display for presentation.

Mmmm...Corfu. I was just there a couple of months ago.

Anyway, I'm with you on nos. 1,6, and 10 for sure. As for 11: what kind of Greek language support do you need that is not already available in Leopard?

I think a glass trackpad with a low-res display that supplements the keyboard keys would make some sense. I said this in another thread, but I'll repeat it here. If the trackpad display could simply replace the top row of buttons on the current keyboard, then it would make more room for guts inside the machine and would enable a reduction in overall laptop size. I envision something that would be a trackpad most of the time, but the user could invoke lesser-used keys in that region too.

Rather silly poll.

3 GHz isn't going to happen (is there a standard 3 GHz mobile CPU?)
Quad-core, forget it

The only way to get 6 GB would be to add another RAM slot (it'll be 8, obviously, not 6)

Apple's not doing a 20" screen; they would've by now had they planned it

Blu-Ray's not happening....

And sadly the keyboard might.

No, I mean on the 17" screen.

I know the current MBP has it, but many people are predicting a switch to 16:9 screen ratios which may mean the top model falls back to 1920 x 1080. I still want the existing resolution with the other new features coming in the update.

Quad would be lovely.
Updated GPU would be a bonus.
320Gb 7200RPM is expected.

Im waiting for an update. NEED MORE POWER!!! :p

What about prices that are in gauge with the rest of the market; that is, prices that are 50% of the current MBP's.

I don't care much about any of those features if they will continue to cost twice the market price.

EDIT: And what about a GPU that is actually one of the best out there are will last a while?

Why is everyone jumping on the hating nVidia bandwagon? Have you personally experienced the issue? If not, then stop talking about it. ><

Well, you're not paying for components and casing materials alone, you know. Someone has to pay those top-notch designers who make everything so elegant, and assembling all of those custom components has to cost more than slapping together a bunch of standard parts. An Armani suit will never be as cheap as one from Men's Warehouse.

NEED MORE POWER!!! :p

I don't think so, Tim. ;)

Agreed; it hasn't affected me as yet, but I'll admit that it is a proverbial "burning issue" for a number of us.

None of the poll items attract me (apart, possibly, from SSD, but that's quite a way off). However, I am curious as to why many posters seem to desire a MBA type keyboard? The keyboard on the current MBP is excellent and an absolute pleasure to use.
Cheers

If they could only keep the paint from wearing off of it. :(
