What's a dead pixel?

Well I just got a replacement iPhone 4 and it seems like there's 2 dead pixels but I'm not exactly sure what a dead pixel is. When ever im on a white screen there's two tine black dots and it seems as though when I scroll the words go over the dots. If this is the case does apple have a warranty thing set in place or do I have to live with it?

A dead pixel is usually white, but nothing can scroll over it.

If you see any dots on your screen then yup its a dead or stuck pixel...
