iPad mini What's an iPad mini feel like, you ask?? (screenshots)

I have been trying to determine how small the iPad mini is to see if I think I will be okay with it. To give you all an idea, I created images that I loaded on the photo app on my regular iPad to get an idea of the size. Works pretty well, so I thought I would share them for those who have similar worries. 🙂

So just save them all to your iPad photo's and load it up. 🙂

And it is... but that really doesn't give you the feel for what everything on the screen will look like. These do! 😀

Thanks, I have been wondering what the landscape keyboard would be like. Seems like it should still be usable for me with three fingers per hand versus four on a normal keyboard (On iPad I went back and forth because my pinky was just on the verge of fitting, but the keys felt too wide to stretch my ring finger to get the outside keys.

I appreciate the time you took to do this. I hope the iBooks app works well in landscape mode as it does on the regular iPad. The two page view is nice as it better mimics an actual book.

Thank you so much for posting these images. I have been wondering what size the screen would be and how the apps would work. Typing will definitely be hunt and peck, but that is pretty much what I do on my iPad 1 now. Thanks again.

Keyboard to approx. scale

Excellent thread. I took the one that shows the landscape keyboard and laid it on a rounded rectangle measured to the exact size of the mini. For those wondering about what a landscape keyboard on screen would look like, this should be a pretty good representation.

It's a PDF. Download. Print. Cut it out and it should be very close to the real thing in terms of size in hand and keyboard size on screen.

Or you can do what I did. I took a blank piece of white computer paper. Found the dimensions for the iPad mini and the Nexus 7 online. Then I marked the dimensions (except for thickness obviously) and then folded to get the height and width of each device. This was just to get a general feel for the devices.

Then I went and tried to see which of my coat pockets the two devices would fit in comfortably. 😛

Should be as long as it is full screen still.. The iPad 3 should just double up the pixels, making it the same size. 🙂

I think for movie watching, it'd be a serious downgrade.

For casual tasks, I guess the small size would be nice to just toss in one's book bag/purse.

(ignore the horribly exposed home screen, if I got it exposed correctly, you wouldn't see the physical iPad)

If you think that's small imagine the other 7" tablets

I think apple did it right by making it 7.9"

It is just about the size of a DVD case. It may look small to someone accustomed to an iPad but it looks big for those accustomed to iPods & iPhones. Instead of viewing it as smaller iPad, consider it a bigger iPod (with cellular options). Maybe Apple should have called it iPod Maxi instead of iPad Mini?😉

Just got my mini case in. The size is definitely smaller than I was expecting. This isn't a bad thing, but I am glad I will still have my iPad 1 for things that just don't work best on the mini (like watching videos).
