I promise that after 2 weeks of the iPhone 4 being on the market, I will never see anyone using it anywhere in Manhattan. It is a gimmick, and normal iPhone users (ie. the people who don't read this forum) will not use it very often. Especially outside of their homes.
People don't "need" an iPhone either. People don't "need" a Mac. I can tell you, honestly, that if my family members had iPhone 4's, I would FaceTime rather frequently.
I'm gonna agree that FaceTime is totally a gimmick. I think while it may be useful for the things that were in the Apple video, once the "shine" wears off, it won't be used that often. I don't know how many doctor's offices actually have WiFi anyway.
I would hope a movie theater doesn't have WIFI or else people are going to video call their friends to show them scenes in the movie while holding their phone up high to distract everyone.
I am, upon occasion, one of those people. The difference is I'm checking RunPee to see if it's a good time to get up to go to the ladies room. I always try to hide the light as much as possible to the point that I try to check inside my handbag. I don't like those people so much either.
RunPee is a black screened app. I start it up before the movie begins and turn down the brightness all the way. It's great. I don't miss anything good if I have to go in the middle. And I don't think I've ever bothered anyone as I take precautions to keep the light to an absolute minimum.
