I generally use my iPad in landscape, so the dock doesn't look too crowded as a result of that. But I have noticed when I do use my iPad in portrait, the dock looks very crowded with five icons. That's just my personal opinion though.

Safari - Mail - Calendar - Contacts - Photos - Music.

Time for a bit of shifting methinks...

Just switched a few around;

Now it goes;

Safari - Mail - Music - Videos - Kindle - Zinio Reader

Currently: Mail, Safari, Comics Folder, iBooks, Photos, Echofon

Suspect that will soon change to

Mail, Atomic, Good Reader, iBooks, TouchPad, Echofon

As I virtually never use my Comic apps, other than speed I think Atomic is more useful (downloads), recently started using Good Reader and TouchPad is indispensable.

Settings - Safari - Calendar - Photos - iPod

Pretty basic, keep my most used on "front/first" page. Like the calendar centered at the bottom. After reading this thread, seems like I will change some around. I had set this arrangment up when I first got it, but now think it is time to change. Funny, I change out my wall paper often and such, but hadn't thought to change this set up.
