Savona, you and I should be joined at the hip! My iPod was my first Apple product and I am constantly saving up for a new Apple product! But get this, I HAD an iPod but I returned it because it had a small scratch on the face. I was taking advantage of Apple's warrenty but it came right back and bite me in the ass. The iPod which I returned was one of the last 5gb iPods! I was told, "We'll get a new shippment in a week..." Not only was that horse, but it's the same excuse i've heard for the last 6 weeks! All I want is an iPod for $299! That's all I want! Wednesday, Thursay. Now! PLEASE!

Hmmm..Is it me or is it that ROUGHLY every 13 days ( the last 4 updates!) there is some kind of update...My prediction Monday the 24th.....(For at least another chance for another iPod update)

just because i want to add fuel to the fire....

yesterday the apple store changed it's shipping times from 1-2 days to 1-3 days.

could this mean a friday release?

pauld, come on, it weighs 8.2 oz.! it's huge. a brick! i'd feel like i'm working out everytime i wanted to check the song!

and as for the holographic color changing logo, my phone has one and it is one of the coolest features =) probably the best thing about that POS

What the hell apple!

There is only one iPod. It's still the best damn MP3 player out there, even without the update.

But every morning when I wake up the first think I do is check the apple splash page. I can't take this dissapointment any longer!

What the hell is going on apple?

errrrrr!

If you aren't going to update it, at least let us buy the current ones.

Hmmm...as far as I can tell, you can still buy the 10 and 20 gig on the Apple site, as well as at multiple retail outlets around the world. Apple is also selling refurbished 5 gig iPods.

I think everyone here needs to relax a bit. Unless somebody has some hard informaiton, which I haven't seen yet, the "iminent" release of new iPods may just be wishful thinking.

I'm not sure if you are joking or not... But the 20GB iPod weighs a miniscule 7.2 oz... If the extra ounce is causing you to strain, then perhaps the 10GB iPod might be a better choice...

"Just Around The Corner"

If everyone keeps saying "just around the corner" everyday, it will eventually come true!!

Sure, we would all love a new iPod, or lower prices, but how many people here would actually buy one? Those with an iPod now, will you trade it in for a new model? I wish I could on my original issue 5 model. I got it the first day it was available in Japan (gave my Rio player to a friend). 5 is big enough for me, I dont need that many songs, but boy, get the prices down more and I will happily upgrade.

Anyway , the new iPods are "just around the corner"

I think a lot of people are waiting for the new iPods and WILL buy one when they are released.
It has been 7 months now since the last update, so the new ones are comming soon, that's 100% certain, it could be any (tues-) day now.

BTW thinksecret.com just had a rumour about new iPods soon. And I think that they have a very good reputation.

I'm hoping that new iPods will show up soon. I am very concerned about the battery issues, though. I'd like it if they'd acknowledge the issues, but I've been dealing with Apple long enough to realize that this isn't the way they do business...

I had come close to making a deal on a nearly new (2 months old) 20 GB iPod. It's been very well kept and the total price would be $600 CAD ($395 US) including shipping.

I got scared off because of the new models coming and the battery issues on the exsiting models... I'll just keep using my RioVolt for the time being. To be honest, I couldn't be happier with it. I'd just really like to have all of my music with me...

I Can't Wait...

until the new iPods come out. I was at the apple store in westchester on sunday, and almost bought one, when I thought better of it. I will certainly buy one when the update comes out, and I may even go for the 40 GB. I don't have that much music, but I'll be able to transfer files very easily, and since my parents are divorced, and I switch between houses every sunday, it would be incredibly convinient. I CAN'T WAIT!!!

I guess the next "release-date" is tuesday feb 25?!
Apple only updates on tuesdays right? It must be their favourite day of the week...

Last Monday they released the Xserve...

That's just one week out of the 5 or so they have been releasing products...

I always wake up on tuesdays with butterflies in my stomach now....

well i've waited long enough, i get my 20gb on saturday. I was fed up of waiting and now i'm gonna get my ipod.

one thing i found that was quite amazing is that the price of an ipod here in the uk is quite a bit more than one in the US. For example a 10gb here is £329 at current exchange rates that is $526! for $500 you get a 20gb ipod. I find that quite surprising. I got my friend to buy me a 20gb in the US and send it over to me and its costing me £315. Does anyone know why this is happening?

What a shame, Apple's foreign prices... If you have a look at all the european Apple stores online, prices (for the iPods) are about 100 US dollars more expensive than in the US. Now don't tell me it's because of taxes and transportation. It's a plain 100 dollars addition to the US prices and that's all. And with the current Euro-Dollar conversion (around 1.09 to 1), they are making even more money from sales in Europe... Just have a look at the prices:

US Apple Store:
iPod 5 GB - $ 299
iPod 10 GB - $399
iPod 20 GB - $499

Spain Apple Store:
iPod 5 GB - €399
iPod 10 GB - €499
iPod 20 GB - €649!!!

Those price differences would be somewhat reasonable in a product like the PowerBook. But with the iPod, us europeans have to pay 33% more for a 5 GB iPod, 25% more for a 10 GB, and 30% more for a 20 GB. That is, to put it simple, a plain theft. I don't really believe that is a real price, including export taxes, shipping, etc...
... Anyway, that won't keep me from getting myself an iPod as soon as the new ones come out.

Happy waiting, friends...

So are you guys in the USA paying more than say 299$ for a 5 gig iPod? Do you have to pay tax of the 299 or is it including taxes and stuff?
I know that the European prices include tax and shipping...

Most websites that you order from only charge you tax on top of a set price if the warehouse that they ship from is the same state in which you live. In the US sales tax is different in every city of every state. So if I live in new york city and I order a product shipping from LA I will not be charged tax. However: the US price does not include shipping.

Even so, you guys in Europe are getting ripped off.

Sypathy from the States.:(

just a question

when I eventually get my ipod, I have a question....

Ive been ripping all my cds into itunes & I was curious, do I need to make playlists for each cd, or will the ipod be able to sort by album, artist, etc like itunes?

thanks in advance!

What time of day does Apple update?

I, too, anxiously await the release of new iPods...its killin' me to check apple.com several times a day. ****To help me out here...is there a specific time of the day when they update if they're going to update???****

Ill buy a 40GB ipod the very minute it comes out if I can. I'm a pro photographer and could use it to 1. back up pics right after a photoshoot in anticipation of the day when my PBG4 falls on some hard warehouse floor at the end of the day, 2. entertain clients (and me) on photoshoots, and 3. keep me entertained when I'm working on the pictures in the studio. It'll be my favorite 'business expense' of the decade. I promise the tax man I'll never, ever, ever use it on my own personal time when I'm not working ;)

PLEEEEEEASE HURRRRRRRY, APPLE!!!

I also want one badly... and how!
Anyway, I am waiting until the 9th or 10th of March, the date of expiration of a discount coupon Apple sent me via email. It's 25 Euros, so I wouldn't want to miss it ;) :D

... Let's just hope Apple releases the iPods well before then, so the saving will be greater, and that would kind of make me forget the higher prices in Europe. Also, that may allow me to get a 20 GB iPod, which just makes me drool... :p

 *making fists with my fingers*
