What's Next... iPod Updates?

Thanks, RedEric, that was lightning-fast. So I still have an hour left of despair & uncertainty.

Anticipation

The anticiaption is usually like foreplay!

We have been teased an tantalised for weeks now and when it happens there will be a momentary release of endorphines, we'll lie back satisfied and then went a cigarette.

Will it have been worth the foreplay? Dunno but it's always fun trying!!

Any time would be fine for me, if they actually release them. What I also hope is that they start selling them inmediately, instead of delaying the shipping time a month or two, as with the XServe.

Nice comparison, that foreplay thing btw :D

The recent announcements have been made around lunchtime here in the UK. The servers have tended to go down about 5 AM Cupertino time and come back about 6AM. Or about 8 and back 9 New York time. Or about 1 and back 2 UK.
 
6am cupertino time? i don't think so.... i could be wrong of course. on the other hand, i hope you are right =)
 
...too late for today, yeah. But hey, the week's not over yet :) I bet Apple is just playing with us.
But damn, I sold my 5GB iPod one week ago, and I'm almost dying without one right now...

If they don't do it tomorrow, I don't see any chance of having the update this week. Damn, these months of wait are getting to my nerves...
 
DavPeanut do you know something we don't know? If I recall correctly the last bunch of updates have all come at about 9am EST. I sure hope you are right though, another week of waiting is gonna drive me to drink.

Sometimes they have done weird things, especially if thy have some release ceremony. With the MacWorlds, they never have anything up until after the keynotes.

Didn't apple do some kind of release ceremony with the first iPod? Any idea when they did that? Though I can't imagiane they would do anything fancy for just minor upgrades.

I really do think we've lost our window for the week, but hey I'll keep the hope alive with all of you!

If its a new 15inch PB, it could be some ceremony holding it up. Also, this week monday was a holdiday and they have been realeasing things on the second work day lately, it could be realeased tomorrow.

oooh, now that's the kind of thinking I like!!!

I also wonder if the weather played any part in it. If they hoped to announce it and have it available in stores on the same day (yes I know a longshot) maybe they decided to wait until the East coast was plowed out from under its many feet of snow, so that deliveries to stores could be made.

it was earlier suggested that there might be a ceremony holding up the announcement. Well, how bout a ceremoney for the new iNewton? Haha, im pulling this out of my butt too, but wouldn't it be great?

It would probably be great, but all I want is a cheaper iPod. :D
 
I cant stand it anymore!!!! I am in lust with the iPod. I have been since I first laid eyes on it. And now, like a dog with a piece of bacon dangled in front of it who runs and jumps but no matter what he does the bacon doesn't get any closer, I am teased beyond belief. I have had many a dream about this update (minor or major).

I hope I don't sound crazy! I probably am! I must have an iPod. This will be my first apple product. First of a long line. I figure, right now I can afford an iPod and next I'll buy a powerbook. I like to save and save so I can get the good stuff.

Do you guys really believe there is a chance for tomorrow (Wednesday)?

Oh, and when I do buy mine should I get the apple or the pc version? I have a PC now but soon will UPGRADE to the Mac. Is it better to get the Mac version and use 3rd party software?

I can surely understand you...

... I wanted an iPod since I saw a review of the first version on a magazine. The last year I decided to save for one, and buy it after Xmas. My gf's birthday is in middle January, another friend's birthday is a couple of weeks later, not to mention the usual epiphany gifts here in Spain, so I guessed I would be ready to buy the iPod (my 1st apple gadget, too) right after the middle of January. And they tell me it will take 4 to 6 weeks to ship. That sounded completely crazy to me, so I withdrew the order, and here I am, after 4 months of anticipation, waiting for an update. And if it ever happens, what will be the shipping time??
Oh god...

About buying an Apple or Windows iPod, either of them will be fine for you. If you buy an Apple iPod, you can use XPlay or EphPod to transfer songs to the player, OR, you can reformat its hard drive to FAT32 so you can access it directly with Windows.

No, the PC version works on macs as well be cause macs can read both types of formatting

Maybe the new iPod will have dual support? no need to run two different products then..


I WANT MY IPOD!!!!!! :mad:
