Here's my menu bar! :D

AirPort, iSync, Sound, Bluetooth, Battery, Date & Time, Spotlight

I changed the color of my AirPort menu using a mod I made. You can download it here, it comes in four colors. :)

Hey, that's a nice little option you put on there. I chose aqua as well, although I wonder if you can use 1 from red, 2 from orange, 3 green, 4 aqua... or something.

Anyways, my menubar has a lot of color now. ;) Hopefully I didn't just kill my mac. haha

I have

Skype, Gmail notifier, Ical, Ichat, wireless doodad,b-tooth, time and the spotlight.

If I knew the 1st thing about anything other than how much I prefer the mac to the PC I would post a pic as well.

I have display preferences, classic startup, wireless signal, battery status, international (normally set to UK, but sometimes US), the day and time in 12-hour digital, my user account name, bluetooth and spotlight.

In that order, although Bluetooth has a habit of moving around :)

Benjamin- how did you get your battery icon in the menubar blue?
I just exchanged the battery image resource. File is located at:

/System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/Battery.menu/Contents/Resources/images.tif

of course you will need to edit yours with a image editor and have permission to change the file.

You should also look at this post on tuaw if you don't want to manually do it yourself.

Ack. Beginning to get a little crowded up there. I usually like to have three or four max (excluding the clock, which ought not be considered a menu extra, in my opinion...).

Too often the menu extras reminds me of a more-coherent-but-just-as-wasteful kin to the system tray of Windows lore... :(

Well I don't think so about the menu in OSX. I don't know how I can say this but for me the menu "feels" more useful than the tray in Windows. How many nice applications there are ;) Just look at this threat, I have never seen any threat about the traybar in Windows ;)

Btw: What's the lock icon?

Here's mine, I have a couple I haven't seen in this thread so I'll elaborate

Left -> Right

Teleport - great if you have two macs and want to use 1 keyboard and mouse
Keychain - I use it to lock the screen when I leave my desk
Bluetooth - Off unless syncing
vpn
airport
volume
battery
date & time
fast user switching
spotlight

From left to right: Menu meters memory (yes I've got only 768mb of ram) and processor, bluetooth, airport, sound, battery, time, ASM (The free version before 2.1) and spotlight. Also if you're wondering what's up with the spotlight icon, I currently have the Amora theme loaded through Shapeshifter.

Left to right:

Adium, Classic, Bluetooth, Airport, Battery with percentage showing, Volume, Clock, Switch User Accounts, Spotlight.

• Butler - Itunes controls
• Butler - have my Applications/Sys Preferences/Music in there
• Butler - Web bookmarks
• Butler - Web search
• Adium
• Ejector
• Airport
• Flag (this is gonna go)
• Battery
• MenuCalendarClock (calendar and time)
• Spotlight

I just set up Butler and am totally new to it. For my itunes I want the following keystrokes to perform back, pause/play, forward functions: Left arrow & up, Down arrow & up, Right arrow & up. Is this possible? I did it with Sizzling keys on my imac and I'm not addicted!

allison.
