Just had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner with my family, including some people who I thought might not make it, but they came in the end. Tomorrow will be a nice day with everyone too :)

Most of the decor was my mom's doing, and it turned out spectacular this year:

That is spectacular! I could never decorate any space that well.

For my part, this is the one time each year I attend church, for the midnight Christmas Eve service. The choristers at the church are such good musicians (and indeed, the organist and string orchestra) and they always prompt me to sing really well. I always get compliments from those members of the congregation standing in front of me. And man, some of the pieces at the beginning and in the middle for solo voices were spectacular. Those choir members are the real deal. I’d bet a good number of them are conservatory trained in some way. String players from the Philharmonic, I believe. What a treat to do that every year.

Oh, and I also cooked dinner for all ten of us, which, despite being intensely worried about all the things that could go wrong, ended up being wonderful.
