Thanks both I'll try that with the water pistol. I'll spray anyone who tries feeding the pigeons too. 😉 Crows are great, not sure how to make friends with them though.

Perhaps odd, but less puzzling to me than those who get excited about Microsoft Windows! Why so excited about "German windows"?
Not often. The handles facing inwards make it difficult.A question about UK windows: do they have screens to keep insects, birds, etc out?
I wonder, because I remember reading a mystery novel that takes place in England, which made a point of it apparently being standard NOT having window screens. That book was old, and I wonder what it's like now.
??? My windows open outwards (US) and the insect screens attach on the inside; crank to open the window is angled so there's no interference.Another disadvantage to outward opening windows - difficult to add insect screens.
They're quite rare in the UK (as far as I know).
It's 95 where I'm from. But the worst part is it's not a "dry heat" either. It's suffocating out there and I think my AC is working overtime! Not often. The handles facing inwards make it difficult.
Here the oppressive heat is on my mind. Fans aren’t really cutting hit. Today was another record for May. Around 35 degrees.
No AC here. It’s not very common in the UK. Going to have to be soon though with the increased temperatures. It's 95 where I'm from. But the worst part is it's not a "dry heat" either. It's suffocating out there and I think my AC is working overtime!
Yes, sadly. I do hope it's not freezer level temps as I experienced on my last trip through the US in 2023 where the AC on the plane (United) and the airport and shops was glacial. It wasn't so bad in Canada during that trip.No AC here. It’s not very common in the UK. Going to have to be soon though with the increased temperatures.
In the US they keep the temperature unnaturally cool. But we all know why!Yes, sadly. I do hope it's not freezer level temps as I experienced on my last trip through the US in 2023 where the AC on the plane (United) and the airport and shops was glacial. It wasn't so bad in Canada during that trip.
What music was played?Went to see an organ recital just now - wow! Organ recitals are so rare, I could have been there all day. Wonderful stuff.

I bought a portable one a few years back and it's a life saver. I hate the heat and the unit makes my bedroom feel like a fridge! Worth every penny. No AC here. It’s not very common in the UK. Going to have to be soon though with the increased temperatures.
Not a fan tbh. It’s 29 in our lounge right now. And that’s with the blinds and curtains closed most of the day. I just put the recycle bin out, but even at 7:30 PM it’s even more unpleasant out there. No wind.Yes, I know that it is unseasonal, unprecedented, unusual, but I do love balmy evenings in the long summer evenings of northern Europe.
Right now we have here in Northern Germany 27 degrees Celsius. Not a fan tbh. It’s 29 in our lounge right now. And that’s with the blinds and curtains closed most of the day. I just put the recycle bin out, but even at 7:30 PM it’s even more unpleasant out there. No wind.
The happiest I’ve been all day was driving home from the office with the AC on. No AC in the office or home. But with these temperatures, it’s getting harder not to buy a portable AC unit.
I expect they have gone up about 1000% this week.
I live in the rural mountains so there is plenty of green space and trees. The downside is that we had a very mild winter with hardly any snow to speak of, which means the wildfire season could be ghastly. We need more green spaces. We need more trees. It can help with flooding and regulating temperature.
Okay, fair enough. Not a fan tbh. It’s 29 in our lounge right now. And that’s with the blinds and curtains closed most of the day. I just put the recycle bin out, but even at 7:30 PM it’s even more unpleasant out there. No wind.
