Call in the professionals. They can smoke them out. As long as the queen moves on you should be fine.

That is pretty much what I had assumed to be the case.
To my mind, this calls for a professional, because you will need someone who knows what they are doing - an expert in the field - to persuade the queen to move on, otherwise the hive will stay to defend her.
If they're honeybees, then a bee-keeper might be interested in collecting them.
If they're wasps, such as yellowjackets, then an exterminator will be needed. These can look similar to bees:

Wasps have a similar social structure to bees, one where the queen is dominant, and the key aim will be to persuade her to want to leave the hive, whereupon the swarm will accompany her.
Anyway, best have this dealt with by an expert.

A fair point; it really pushes the bounds of believably that somebody would take pictures of normal skeletons.
The underwhelming truth has gotta be mega humans.
I think they are regular size skeletons.

It's possible there might be people who excavate, classify, and study old things for a living.

If they are Yellowjackets, that's an order of magnitude more concerning that most other wasp/hornet species, they're very aggressive, don't get anywhere near the nest. Definitely get a professional in ASAP.
