There are pictures on the internet, therefore it MUST be true.

There were pictures in the Great Soviet Encyclopaedia, too, and it was axiomatic that they must have been true.

Even the ones that had several different truths, as version succeeded version, or edition succeeded edition (as the bitter joke had it "the past is constantly changing, only the future is certain and glorious") and the published prints, or pictures, had to reflect new realities, realities comprised of an ever shrinking cast.

Was reading a book and i came across it so decided to check it out. Nothing is impossible we weren't around even 500 years ago let alone billions :)

The earth is indeed billions of years old but that in itself doesn't mean anything is possible.

Well .... we humans are only a tiny percentage of the "whole" thing so what we haven't seen outweighs what we've seen big big big time.

These days I'm inclined to believe any ass backwards theory of what's possible over what's not possible.

Only narrow minded people will inclined without any justification or explanations. I am not saying you , generally.

Pretty sure humans have been around before 1519! There are buildings not far from here older than that. Let alone written history, artwork and the like!

Ah, I see the roving twit is back. Least no mention of sex, drugs and gambling this time.

I watched the Apple event on YouTube yesterday afternoon. Some cool new iPhone features, the games looked neat if you're into non triple A gaming, but I was more impressed with the motion graphics intro.

You got me wrong. I meant us, now days like you and i.
I am open to anything , we can't reject things without giving proper answers.

I take it that when you write "we weren't around 500 years ago", you mean those of you sitting writing posts on this forum, rather than humanity in general.

Any scientific account that I have read seems to suggest that humanity - in its current form - has been around for approximately 35,000 years, with the development of agriculture, towns and urban living, professional specialisation, numeracy and writing, taking place approximately 10,000 years ago.

Well .... we humans are only a tiny percentage of the "whole" thing so what we haven't seen outweighs what we've seen big big big time.

While this may be true, I doubt that this holds true for the pictures you posted.

And only credulous ones take everything that they see at face value without investigating and interrogating sources and content and context.

Again, Piltdown Man comes to mind.

Re-written by request in something resembling English 101: Don't believe everything you see without checking out who wrote it and why they wrote it and where it came from and whether it has been altered or doctored prior to publication.

I'm an historian by training.

Therefore, to me, facts matter and verification of sources is critically important.

Might’ve caught a cold... worst timing ever

Bad luck, and commiserations.

Plenty of rest (those 4 a.m. starts are not a good idea unless absolutely necessary) and fluids; stay hydrated, warm and try to rest, or relax, or switch off a bit.

I think you said that you may be starting a new position, one that represents a promotion.

This cold may be a manifestation of delayed stress that the extensive preparation for this position may have entailed.

That has also happened to me - coming down with something while on leave, - as the occasion for the stress has been removed - having just left a very stressful professional environment.

We can't just dismiss things we are not sure of and be narrow minded.

Myth, possible delusion and fantasy, then.

Just a polite interjection, it has been demonstrated how the pyramids were built - no huge mystery when you have lots of labour available. They were not slaves by the way, but would work between harvest season IIRC when the Nile was flooded.

I have seen the pyramids, they were built with massive stones on top of each other. Some of the stones are big as bedrooms so it makes you wonder how they lift them.

Santa humans true or myth?
