Ok I got really annoyed last night becasue I wanted to watch two films that I have never seen but read good reports about. "V for Vendetta" and "Akira". The frist was dubbed in German with English subtitles available and the second was in Japanese (ok I watch most anime in original with subtitles) but with German subtitles. Many other titles on Netflix are availble in the original language with subtitles however.

Weird observation, on the Apple store app on my iPhone, the language is German with no way to change for English. If I change my iPhone language to French (which I speak pretty fluently) it appears in French, in Apple's (and other tech companies') logic, Switzerland is a majority German-speaking country. If my phone is in English but location in Switzerland the language goes to German, but only if I change everything to French it goes to English. Oh and I have to choose Amazon France or Germany. There are also some channels in France available for French-speaking Switzerland. "Spoiled" ex-pat problems I guess.

She actually order a furry one to use in the lounge as well as one for the bed.

Two electric blankets? One furry one?

I want one of those..........

Good for her.

At least, that way, she can guarantee that she stays warm and cosy.

Been shaping up as an unseasonably cold November here...sounds cozy.

I wondered whether it was just me who thinks that, but, no, apparently not.

There was a tempoprary showroom for these Knighscope security robots en route to my morning job last year. I was reading another article about these robots and came upon this hilarity

DC security robot quits job by drowning itself in a fountain 😂🤣😂🤣😂

Yes, this is 2.5 years old, but I am so happy I found it: it’s so very Douglas Adams.

We’ve all had days like that! Glad it’s Friday.

Ah, I am so glad to see someone reference the late, great, Douglas Adams, and what a brilliant (and hilarious) story.

Today’s rant will be about the lazy turds who just ride the office escalator.

Due to it being an office escalator most use them as stairs so we can reach our destinations quicker.

But there’s a certain segment who use it as an amusement park ride.

They capably walk everywhere but once they reach the escalator they’re crippled. Thank goodness they have their phone with them to pass the time.

I still love Zaphod, the Babble Fish, the Guide itself, and Marvin.

These knightscope security bots were fun to watch as they whirled about the showroom. I should have taken pictures but presumed they would always be around. Unfortunately, none of them did anything that entertaining.

@Gutwrench break out the cattle prod?

I am going in this early to test the new MBPs. :)

I remember the original BBC TV series - which I saw as an undergrad - as one of the funniest and sharply intelligent things I had ever seen in my life, especially that brilliant first episode.

The Guide....

I loved that series too, the guide was priceless.

And... I made the right decision buying the 16" MBP: the keyboard is very comfortable, the display and speakers are great. Yay!

Compared to my limping iMac, the MBP has double the cores, 3/4s more graphics power, six speakers and the same size storage albeit SSD.:) Looking forward to learning Affinity software and possibly getting a Wacom; but first, storage, new Magic Mouse, one dongle and a display.

🥳

...and I have no idea why but the Rice-a-Roni jingle just popped into my head. 🤔

Delighted to read that the new 16" MBP is just right for you. Good luck with it.

And very glad to learn that the keyboard is comfortable.

Agreed, the Guide was priceless, with a wit that was wonderfully sharp yet very funny.

After all the computer malarky I've been through (and put many good people through here), it is such a great relief to continue with Apple. Word even launches instantly too now. That keyboard is a joy.

I just recommended the MBP to folks who need new computers too.

Walked out of the Apple store beaming for the first time in years. I just wanted to sit down and write on the MBP for hours, but I have to work to pay for it. ;)

Oh and my latest German Shaw Brothers blu rays arrived (I knew they'd be here today, thanks to ESP flash). Will be a while before I can watch them, but yay!
