Thanks everyone for the kind words and solid advice.

After talking to my sister and several colleagues and reading everyone's wonderful answers @Scepticalscribe @Clix Pix @Huntn I told these acquaintances no they cannot borrow the car for this or anything going forward.

Mom doesn't have dementia (but the medications are making her more loopy than usual).

Anyway, time to up my skills in google docs.

Again, thanks everyone for the thoughtful, long replies. I may not be able to respond directly, but I do truly appreciate the time and advice you shared. I will definitely save some of them

You are more than welcome, very happy to be of some support - not least as I have some idea of what you are gong through.

As @Apple fanboy has already said, we are all here for one another, and I, for one, have found this community to have been very supportive.

I've had way too much happen within a week. I'm already ready to throw 2020 in the trash.

I think it'll get better.

I'm debating my timeline tomorrow as I need to get to UPS to return the iPhone XS, get to Kohl's to return something from Amazon, stop by a manufactured home seller with tax documents, get the air pressure on my tires checked, have my eyebrows threaded, and I'm seeing it might rain.

I just washed the car! *Sigh*

Car washing pretty much out of the picture here at the moment, it's 7ºF. But hold on, looks like a free wash incoming over the weekend, a warm front to zoom us into the 50s and dump an inch of rain. Then back to regular programming for more of January. Sounds like free ice skating next week.

So... rollercoasters on my mind?! s/b entertaining anyway.

^^^^ hah, I was just reading some old thread in here about "list your pet peeves"... I should revive that thing and tack on

"people who write about 80º outside temps in January when in the mountains we're trying to remember how to spell zero." ;)

In truth y'all know my summertime comfort zone stops somewhere around 70ºF but I'm not that fussy in winter daydream territory, so I'm willing to envy anything up to around that 80º mark that Florida figures to nip on the weekend.

Off work tomorrow, but I’ve got so much on I’m wishing I was at work!

  • Car to the garage for service and MOT
  • Underfloor heating site survey
  • Builders doing some window enlargement
  • Going to choose granite for kitchen
  • Meeting with kitchen fitter

Service Electric bill went up $11 just because of fees increasing. :( Looks like the base cost actually went down.

Anytime the temperature climbs in Summer, I just think to myself at least it can't snow when it's 90 degrees. I like it most when it's a little cloudy but not rainy or otherwise overly humid.

Where there's a will there's usually some way, regulated pricing or no. I don't use a lot of electricity in summer (forced air in winter means the blower motor switches that up) and so I've actually had electricity bills in August where the array of individually minor items related to supply, delivery, surcharges and tax actually start making the base charge look disproportionately huge. I have no clue what some of those little fees are for... "in lieu of a desired and denied rate hike" is what I file it all under when I see those things rising.

Heh I noticed my Part D healthcare monthly hit went down by by a buck or something but the deductible went up by around 80 bucks and I don't even have to take any drugs yet, so that's sitting there waiting for me like a set of serial jacks in the box whenever I might end up with a prescription for eye drops or a seasonal allergy etc. So far I've been lucky the past couple years, but I remember the doc scrounging around for samples when I needed eye drops one year and they were going to total up to over a hundred bucks and me still with an untouched deductible in September.

Yup have that too with electric in the winter since we have gas heat. Like half of the bill is fees. I should look at the latest one to get the exact number.

EDIT: Yup! Customer charge is $17.68 out of $36.90

Some work emails on my mind this evening.
grrrrrrr!
Banish them! Like me lol.

Went to work as we had to bring in a handyman to install new furniture at the office including a massive white board. Chucked a lot of stuff, damn but things can accumulate in two and a half years. Didn't help that I am fighting a cold and struggling on 3 hours of sleep. Hitting the sack soon after this post - no really!! At least can go in for only a half day tomorrow. The semester starts in two weeks and after an awful last semester hoping for a better group. Not that there weren't some outstanding students last term but it just takes a couple of rotten, entitled little .... well anyhow.

Be well my friends.

🗣 Everyone who drives n Maryland, D.C., and Virginia are freaking jerks.... like where are you guys going!!! 🤬
PA too! And it's on both sides. Either crushing the speed limit weaving like maniacs or ridiculously slow. And you are supposed to PUSH the gas pedal with your foot when the light turns green, not just place your foot there. And you don't need to leave like four car lengths before you start moving after the person in front of you starts moving GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Yup NJ and NY in the mix here too since we live in Bethlehem.

lol... Some days whenever someone asks where have you been today and I respond ”I just got back from Baghdad.... they almost got me!”

And there’s always someone who falls for it. “Really.... were there a lot of terrorist?” and I say “No not Iraq... I’m talking about the New Jersey Turnpike!”

I crack up the office every time

Got out my old 5c. It was my first iPhone. It's still the most beautiful phone I've ever owned. The 7/7 Plus in jet black would be next. All the others are just okay, blah though.

Not sure why but the look and feel sets them apart from all the bland glass and aluminum phones. I'm weird, aren't I?

Not weird at all. I still have my green 5C even though it's wiped and ready to e-cycle but I just can't let it go, even charge it up a little now and then so the batt doesn't croak. It's the first "old phone" I wasn't willing to hand on to some kid in the neighborhood, I just wanted to keep it! Loved the silky feel of it. Loved the sturdiness. I liked my 4S and do now like the SE, am totally awestruck by the screen on the XR (which I only use as a WiFi device because it's just too big for me to use as a phone really), but that 5C might just end up always remembered as my favorite iPhone.
