@kazmac Have you seen Shadow?

One of the scenes was in AVC's "Best Scenes of 2019", holy smokes ... !
I've been holding off, as I've heard it's the worst of Zimou's modern Wuxia. It looks beautiful (and it is a .99 rental at iTunes right now). Maybe this weekend I've give it a look. Zimou's wuxia have wonderful choreography and I love the color palette.

Have you seen it yet?

I'm trying to think of a way to succinctly & definitively tell people how weak the 5500M in the "16 MBP is. Some fellow is trying to suggest they can game at 4K with it, and it's like struggling to convey the technical weakness of the 5500M to tech illiterate people is getting annoying, so I'll likely just stop trying to save people like $100-200 USD.

I haven't, but thanks for the heads up on the $0.99 rental, seems like a no brainer to at least score it while it's almost free (and you have like 30 days to watch it I believe).

Another Customer Service over-seas, this time Amazon. I guess I should be happy my product prices are low and not worry about disenfranchised citizens, right? :( Just an observation, this is the wrong forum for a debate.

I’d be more worried about all the businesses they have put to the sword but there you go.

Glad it’s Friday. Been a short week but long days if you know what I mean.
Everyone is back Monday so things will be a bit more normal from then.

Meh. My liver is disenfranchised every weekend.

Hah I had disenfranchised mine permanently by time I was 38 years old. It takes real expertise (and some phenomenal luck) to get that done and survive to laugh it off...

On my mind today: ran into this in some Bloomberg opinion piece and decided to become another of the more than million admirers of the tweet the guy cited.

hey maybe it will catch on.jpg

Maybe it will become a thing to skip social media and stick to small scale craziness in 2020!

For real craziness, it would have to be "Drinking tea."

I agree about Starbucks coffee, SS! When out with others I will drink one of their sweet and frothy lattes but I will not just stop in there and drink their regular coffee, as it is disagreeable to my palate, too, and I am not one for adding sugar and cream to my coffee, I prefer it black. I am amazed at the number of people who cannot seem to get through their day without one or more stops at Starbucks! Thanks just the same, I'll make my coffee at home the way I like it and spend my money on things I do enjoy.....

tbh the only thing I have really liked about Starbucks is the 20oz 1994 Los Angeles City Mug version of their various coffee mugs. One of our database administrators, a guy from the LA office, was on the east coast back then for some conference just before Christmas time and gave it to me. Its red-orange palm trees are exactly the color of tomato soup... so that's what I always have tomato soup in.

I was so ticked off when I finally broke it 🤯 that I actually went on eBay and scouted around until I found a replacement. Thank god for Texans who've left home long enough to see something worth buying in LA and only later had buyer's remorse -- or else a good eye for what would have excellent resale value. 🥰

When we occasionally drink Starbucks it's totally fine, because it's in special circumstances where we're traveling, so coffee sort of takes a back seat - plus, the few places we drink it, it's super fresh and we generally bring our own extras like sweet cream.

I say this as someone who most every morning heats filtered water, grinds fresh beans, and makes carefully timed coffee with a french press ...

In the US that has been going since the 80s when Walmart put small town America retail out of business.

Yes, moving on from Apple. Received confirmation that VMs are the only way I could still run Sierra.

Not going to do that (Spend that $$$ for machine and then more to subscribe to VM software - nope).

Took me three years, but the decision is made.

And yay! this 8+ is developing touch irresponsiveness too, while mom's 6s+ has become unusable.

I accept this now, which was the biggest obstacle.

So much has changed for me in 3 years, I thought I couldn't handle my tech changing too. It's a good thing that one job is offering extensive Windows 10 training in two months, that is a sign.

That is the very point: When you have become used to maintaining high standards while preparing your coffee at home, suffering your way through vastly inferior (and over-priced) coffee at a place such as Starbuck's becomes a lot less acceptable.

There was a time when even the foulest beverage offered by a coffee shop vastly exceeded what you could prepare at home, but no longer is that the case, and hasn't been for some time.
