I had to let go of one of my team today as part of cutbacks.

This thing sucks. Feel real bad for him even though he gets why we had to let him go.

Thanks for all the laughs here @LizKat @AngerDanger @Gutwrench @D.T.

Mom, sisters, and I are still kicking amongst other things. New job is crazy intense, but good now that tech is sorted. Drawing is helping me cope...so is chocolate.

@Apple fanboy How is your dad? How is your new homestead?

Wishing everyone good heath and sanity...
He’s fine. Seems to mostly be social distancing which is good.

House is getting there. Will have the lounge finished over the Easter weekend so that will give us another room to use.
How are you and your Mum getting along?

Sorry to hear that. But, this is the current trend. My company just released 200 employees. And counting...

- Drinking 4 Roses small batch (+ Fever Tree light ginger beer), among other things (Beer before liquor, never ... doh !!!)
- Banging out some [pretty slick] code
- Re-watching Better Call Saul S1 :D
- Did a massive supply run this morning, bandit mask and all, enough for 7-10 days (huge ham for this easter weekend)
- Helping around and about, setup a video solution for a local yoga studio, moved a friend's site to a better service (Netlify from a half-assed WP deployment)
- Scored a fire pit (yes, I know it's 1000 degrees outside ...)
- Hanging some photos
- Big fancy Keurig died (3-4 years?), busted out a 12 year old single serve, it's red! Yes, my fresh ground whole bean, French press is 10 orders of magnitude better, but this is occasional supplemental use ...

Also having 4 Roses Small Batch. They do say great minds think alike.

The other day I picked up some Owl's Brew mixer, specifically a Manhattan (strawberry), they use tea and real fruit, organic, all natural, it's pretty fantastic, decently low sugar content, makes a great drink with 4 Roses with its sort of sweet, carmanel, and citrus flavors (with a nice hint of spice). Today, on my supply run, I picked up their Pina Colada mixer (uses Cardamom, Cloves, Ginger, Coconut, black tea), and for the rum, we will be unleashing The Kraken :D

Will have to check those out. I still appreciate the ginger and Fever Tree recommendations you made a few years ago. Fever Tree came 'round Costco last year and bought boxes of the stuff. I've sampled Kraken before but I was under the impression its flavor profile is boosted by synthetics? Or was it caramel coloring?

I don't mind caramel colors. Most of the scotches and cognacs use it, even bottles costing upwards of a few thousand. I don't know if you've ever had untreated 15-20 year scotch but it looks like it's NGS tinted with brown piss, so it isn't too surprising to see them use some coloring to make it amber-esque. I had no idea of this practice until about 10 years ago when a friend of mine recommended a single malt I hadn't had or heard of prior to then.

It's rather disappointing when you think about it since it's legal to use without disclaimer, even in the EU. I never made the connection of why a very dark liquor was incredibly light on flavor or why a natural colored liquor that looked disgusting was full of flavor. Light straw/brown piss color would indicate aging in a very old and overly used barrel system.

Even Sceptical's favorite Irish whiskey, both the Green and Yellow spot are colored with a caramel color agent. There is a definitive additive in them because the colors and what they're aged in don't quite correlate with similar liquors across the short pond.

No idea if anejo is colored.

Avengers Endgame is trending on Twitter today ( anniversary of it's theatrical release I believe ), and after looking into it ...I needed it.

I can't wait to hear "On your left" in these times.

Yes! I just recently scored it (from a seller here), same thing, I wanted to see that last hour again, __really__ bad, so did a full on Infinity War / End Game mini-marathon, it was **glorious**

Never heard about anything like that, it's a slightly aged, dark (because of molasses), with several spices.

Anyway, the Owl's pina mixer was a real treat, it's very pineapple, with just a slight coconut hint, and a long spicy finish, a good blast of cardamom and cinnamon. It's interesting as it's not the milky, snow white mixer that's so common, it's really like what would be the result of a home brew of coconut water and pineapple with some spices. the Kraken is a BIG flavor, but it worked perfect with it - then I was thinking about how it might work, __if__ someone really did want more of a creamy flavor and texture, so I tried it was some 1/2-1/2 cream, wow, that was even better, and a little more towards the mik-y-ish style.

Just over ice this time, but might try a blend, soon, tonight, or maybe right now :D
