Finished work for the night.
8-5 then 9-11:30. Getting to be my normal at the moment.
Looking forward to one of my colleagues getting back on Monday as I seem to be doing her work and mine.

Why does Time Machine take so effing long to backup!!?? - Even trying all the terminal tricks to 'speed up' the process do not work in Catalina. Time machine 2.0 is probably my single most wanted upgrade from a MacOS I can think of. Please make it happen Apple...and make it FAST FFS!

....that's all from me, that's what's on my mind.

So Mozilla laid off 250 employees. For a donation based company 250 employees laid is a lot, if each had a $1000 salary thats $3M per year. I always thought they were at max 100 employees. I believe there are a complete Linux distributions out there with much smaller teams, like Slackware which I heard is maintained by 1 guy since 1992.

I had a very happy experience using Carbon Copy Cloner, it creates bootable backups

On my mind this weekend morning, a Terry Pratchett poem mailed by some kin whose hearth was long shared with a cat that passed away recently at age 20. Methinks the lad is missing that companionship as the summer nights grow cooler.

I am really having fun this summer with the sparrows and squirrels on my deck! They entertain me and I feed them -- everybody wins! Right now there is a gang of about twenty birdies on the deck at the tray; Smaug the squirrel was here earlier but has gone off somewhere now. It's raining lightly, so everyone's probably on the deck to try and stay dry.

😍 Love it...especially hearing my beloved Blue Jays.

Lazy Sunday here. Hope everyone is okay.

Enjoy your lazy Sunday.

Last day of work as a federal employee is tomorrow. I turn 30 in 2 weeks. Next week I'm starting a Masters Program in Data Science.

Best of luck with the Master's Proramme in Data Science.

Sounds terrific fun.

And proverbial carrots (or, trays of food), often work better (in my view) than proverbial sticks.

The wild turkeys on a neighbor's porch thought so too one winter when it was very snowy and the guy was putting whole dinner plates of sunflower seeds on a table out on his covered porch for the smaller songbirds.

I went to deliver his groceries after the driveway had been plowed, but that plowing activity had cleared the way for the turkeys to advance to the porch to see what the draw was that had all those other birds up in there.

At first I thought I'd have to go home and phone my neighbor to wave the turkeys off; they had become quite territorial after seeing the smorgasbord on that table. I felt like I was in a deleted scene from Hitchcock's The Birds for a minute there. But he saw me coming and also saw the turkeys objecting to my joining them, so he quickly opened the door and shooed them away. When I left an hour later after a coffee-klatsch, I saw those turkeys advancing to the porch again as I backed out of the drive. The neighbor had restocked the plates of seed while I was heading to my car...

Yes. They will eat almost anything including seeds.

The suggestions I’ve seen are leave only enough food to be consumed by nightfall or take the food in before nightfall.

Thanks! Yes, some nights I've indeed brought the trays in just as a precaution.....tonight being one of those times. The sparrows seem to have huge appetites for their tiny size! I can't believe how much they eat!

:)
They need fuel to fly, so they eat a quarter to half their weight daily.

That is so nice that you feed them. Bummed that our rental will not let me feed the Jays, Robins or Sparrows. I would love to.😔

We have had huge raccoons and possums here too.
