Had to pick up the calculator and do a quickie to figure out what 44 KG is..... I assume 96.8 pounds? Depending upon one's height and overall body structure, that can be considered a somewhat low weight or it could be regarded as a seriously dangerously low weight. Height, bone structure and weight all need to be considered in an assessment of someone's health. If someone is only five feet tall or under and of already petite build with small bones, that weight wouldn't be considered terribly problematic yet, but if the individual continues to lose weight, it can indeed be something to be worried about, not just because of the weight per se but whatever is causing the weight loss. And, yes, if someone is five feet four or five feet six, that same 96.8 pounds would be seen by medical personnel and even the layman as heading into the dangerously low weight territory even if not there yet..... especially if the individual's bone structure is not small, with thin, light bones, but rather medium or large. Other factors come into play here as well, which I won't get into at this point, but the bottom line is that someone who is losing weight for whatever reason(s) does need to be seen by a physician in order to rule out various causes of this and to receive appropriate treatment.
I guess at this point I also need to add, for those who might not be aware, that I come to any sort of discussion of this sort from the vantage point of someone who has a lengthy history of anorexia nervosa, now in recovery after many years, so my experiences and perspective around the whole weight loss/treatment/weight restoration/etc. scenario are somewhat different than those of many people. [Yes, there is still that tiny voice that suddenly, unbidden, pops up from somewhere deep inside, right now whispering at me about that 96.8 pounds, laughing...... Huh, what, such a big deal about 96.8 pounds??!!! Pffft! Now maybe if you were talking about in the low 70's or even the 80's......] I take a deep breath and remind myself that while I and others I've known, some good friends, have been at far, far lower weights than 96.8 pounds at various heights and general bone structure, that was not healthy. It was NOT healthy. Regardless of the cause of weight loss, it does do sometimes irreparable damage to the body and various organ systems.
Unfortunately, and this is the part that I need to most strongly again remind myself about, some of those others who flirted with low weight, arrived at that territory one way or another, did not survive........
Eh, yes, well, time to move on here.
AFB: Ack, rats or mice in the loft?!!! Didn't you just get through putting in insulation, shelving and all that there? Is the insulation, which probably provides warmth and coziness attracting the rodents? How did they discover it and get in there in the first place? Is there a previously unnoticed hole that has given them their opening? Maybe they had already been living in there and when you did fix up the loft with the new insulation and new shelving you disturbed their original residence? I know that mice and rats do like to live in walls of dwellings, etc. Yes, you definitely need to attend to this issue promptly! You don't want to be sharing your home with either rats or mice.....
