So glad to hear you are okay and thanks for being a health care worker too. Thank you.

@Clix Pix YAY! Congratulations on your MBP purchase. It’s a great machine. Glad you found one.

Mom is getting a little relief from med and anti-inflammatory vitamins. :)

Lots on my mind which I‘ll just keep mum about, but YAY! Blue Jay sightings in our front tree 30 minutes ago. 💙💙💙 Three Blue Jays were hopping about the tree, the ground and the roof gutter. I did not record everything (so excited I forgot to hit record the first time ), but I now have a few seconds of one Jay probing the roof gutter for something to eat.💙💙💙

I hope everyone is okay.
Lots of bird activity here to. Mrs AFB has been out feeding them twice already. All the snow is making them hungry!
Hope you are okay also.

I am loving my beautiful little M1 MBP!!!! Fantastic machine and I'm so happy I found one, too! I can see why these things are selling like hotcakes -- Apple absolutely did hit a home run with their new M1 processor. Wow.....

While I was out in the kitchen preparing my coffee machine to brew me up some java, I saw several Hooded Mergansers landing in the water and swimming around. Later when I looked out again, there was now a whole gang of them. They're fun to watch!

Glad you love your MBP too. Yay! I am glad I gave the MBP another shot. I really enjoy this machine. Haven't put it through any real paces yet, but I hope to soon (I.E. whenever the Affinity Publisher workbook shows up. I'd like to redo my resume / CV in the style of the sample in the book.

Learned what Hooded Mergansers were recently: Ducks with some awesome "hair" ;) That's so cool that you see them locally.

@Apple fanboy - Trying to be okay.

I've had mine on my lap for the past 4 hours and it still feels cold! It's actually a little too cold on my lap (it's currently 0ºC here in the North of England). I've never had a laptop that stays to cool. My 2019 16" MacBook Pro would be too hot on my lap after 30 minutes or so These M1 MacBooks are really really impressive.

Oh, yes, this baby is a keeper!!! Like you I haven't really put mine through any stressors yet, and she's been cool as a cucumber all the way, not breaking a sweat no matter what I was throwing at her. Amazing! I have downloaded and installed both DXO PhotoLab 4 and the Nik Collection 3 in the new machine and briefly tested them out, mainly just to see how editing images on a 13" screen would be when I'm so used to my 24" monitor, and I have been pleasantly surprised. I also downloaded and installed Affinity Photo, too, which I have in the "primary" machine, too, but there are still a couple more photo apps that I would like to have in the new machine "just in case" I do decide to occasionally do some editing. I have to look through what's in the 15" 2018 MBP and see what I might want to stick in the new machine, too, even though the new machine is not going to be a replacement for my 2018 one.

Yes, Hooded Mergansers are fascinating, with the "hoods" on the black-and-white males and the unruly reddish-brown "hair" on the females! They sure zip around the lake! It's only been about three years since they first started coming here, and that first year I had no idea what the heck they were. They're here from late October through early to mid-April, and then they migrate somewhere else for the warmer months.

I was really surprised both last night and again today while working with the new machine at how cool she remains -- wow!!! Both of my older machines get warm very quickly when under any sort of load. This new one? She doesn't break a sweat, the fans don't come on, no matter what I'm doing! Wow......

Now I'm checking out the battery life. While I was in the process of all the setting-up, tweaking/tinkering, downloading, installing, etc., I kept her plugged in just for good measure. Now she's off the leash and on battery power alone and I'm really interested to see what kind of battery life she'll be showing me!

Can the M1 macbook perform hand off, drop off and other fun stuff with an iPad?
i assume so
Hooded Mergansers are fun water fowl to watch!

Thank you, SS! Yes, indeed, I am! This little machine is surprising in several ways and she's definitely fun to type on. Yes, I daresay the reports about battery life are right on the money -- it was 4:00 when I unplugged her and now it is 9:42 PM, just past 5 1/2 hours, and she is still at 79% battery. Wow!!! Some of that time, though, even though she was on, I wasn't using her, she was sitting idle while I prepared and had dinner, cleaned up afterward, etc., etc.

MtLoin2020, yes, the M1 MBP and I assume the MBA and Mini can also do the hand-off, Airdrop, etc., between it and an iPad, but I haven't yet tried that with my iPad. I do use Airdrop quite frequently between my MBP 15" and my iPhone so I expect that it will work just as nicely with my new MBP, too.

I love the Hooded Mergansers -- they are a real treat to watch all winter long!

Phoned a number of cousins (they were very pleased to have a decent chat) who had been kind enough to send Christmas cards to myself and Decent Brother.

Now, my berr and my book both beckon.

I am finally an Apple Watch owner.

Covid-19 vaccine tomorrow; I’ll let you know if I become a zombie or something.
Enjoy your AW. Got my first one (AW SE) in September. Have really enjoyed it. Have increased my exercise levels quite a bit since I got it.
Lucky you on the vaccination. I’m months away from qualifying for one.

Your berr? Sure you’ve not already had a few! :p

These days, my fingers keep missing certain keys (yes, even when sober....), alas.

But, beer.......

The annoying (and embarrassing) truth is that that post was typed before the first bottle (of beer) had even been opened.

Had such a slip of the finger, on a keyboard occurred after my second (or, perish the thought) third (beer, er, berr..) , it would have been both more forgiveable and more understandable.

No worries. I was just messing with you. My typos are regular affairs. I just fix most of them before I hit send.

Best of luck with the vaccination. Looks like it'll be about early February when I'll get mine. My whole fleet is getting them done in that timeframe and I'm the oldest by over 20 years so I will probably be first in line.

And the best of luck to you, as well, with the vaccine.

This morning I planned to walk up to my local library but only managed to get to the end of the road before turning back. Very slippy under the feet. Roads bad too. It’s a nice day here in the north of England, sunny and 3ºC but it’s too icy on the pavements and roads for a good walk. Back home now with a copy of the Times and a coffee with freshly ground Ethiopian beans. Now, not planning moving further than the kitchen today.

I came to that conclusion yesterday. But having been out for a walk just now, it’s all good here. Roads are clear. Still snow in the fields though.

Freshly ground Ethiopian coffee; exactly what I am sipping, savouring and enjoying just now.

Phoned the bin company yesterday to check about collection schedules & timetables (last one was a fortnight ago, and last year, on account of the day that Christmas, & New Year, fell on, collection scheduls were disrupted)

Anyway, they said that the bins would be collected today, and - bless them - also texted me last night to remind me (and, I daresay, others).

So, bins out, sipping coffee. Need to venture out and brave the elements to fetch my organic milk which the local shop keeps for me, as I have run out, once I had my coffee prepared.

Our brown bin (garden waste) and green bin (recycling) were collected yesterday and today as normal.
Put them back round the back before I left for my walk.
Did some work earlier, cross trainer session and spoke to my Dad. He’s in Essex where things are not great COVID wise. But he’s keeping safe.
