Those times I wish Dr Who (or Star Trek in its time travel aspect "nuclear wessel") was real, would love to meet Marcus Aurelius and settle this. Seriously there would loads of questions I would ask him or many other historical figures.
Time travel would be amazing, I get the weird feeling the most popular use for time travel would be for showing kids the dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals or to relive their favorite decade. Though it would be interesting to spend a week in Rome or other ancient civilizations and see for myself what was it like to live back then.

Assuming language would not be a barrier, it would be neat to speak to scientists throughout the ages and maybe even preserve findings that were lost or intentionally destroyed.

We would probably be disappointed. We tend to romanticize or vilify the past one way or another. However yeah, it would be amazing. Granted, it would probably end like in Bradbury's "A sound of Thunder" short story.

Once I reached thirty, my experience of hangovers, or "feeling (rather) rough" the next day, became a lot more pronounced, and yes, occasionally painful.

That easy, and effortless recovery of one's younger years was now a barely remembered vision in time's rear view mirror.

My solution - for I do like a glass of wine or a beer - is to always (but always) have a glass of water alongside my wine or beer and to drink it at the same time; thus, I will usually have a glass of water for every glass of wine, or beer, and I find that this helps matters considerably.

Anyway, I hope you had a good night and enjoyed it thoroughly.
Yup did that. But it makes no difference for me. I just don’t react well to alcohol anymore. Felt better later on and enjoyed my day. I think my limit is one beer these days. Anyway I’ll be off the stuff for the remainder of my trip as I’m the designated driver tomorrow.
Wednesday my friends have to head off early, so I think I’ll go explore Salisbury with my camera. It’s on the way home anyway.

Remember what Dean Martin supposedly said....

"I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day."

Oh [insert word describing excrement here]. And I thought those aches and pains might go away some time today.

I'm one of those people whose genetics are such that while I can get drunk, I don't get merry along the way. So I don't bother. I don't like the barley drinks (beer, whiskey) and I can't tell the difference between a $2 wine and a $200 wine. I am always the designated driver.

Coffee, OTOH. The subtle differences between an Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and a New Guinea Bena Bena make my tongue just curl up in bliss.

I was nowhere near drunk. Just having a nice evening. But it was a pretty lousy night and morning. Feel fine this evening though. I drink so rarely that I think I’m not as able to deal with alcohol in the way someone who drinks 2-3 times a week. With me it’s more like 2-3 times a year!

I just looked up Salisbury and it sounds as though it could be a photographer's wonderland! Definitely worth spending some time there!!! Enjoy!

Enjoy Salisbury.

The cathedral is amazing (I spent several hours there on a visit a number of years ago, and had to be dragged out, as I was so reluctant to leave).

It is, especially on a sunny day (when the natural light is decent).

Autumn light (preferably on a sunny day) would be wonderful for photography in a place such as Salisbury.

I have just re-discovered the B/W photo app on my phone called Lenka.

This is a piccy of a paper-bark gum tree in the Mt Annan Botanical gardens, which I took on one of our (almost, maybe, nearly) daily walks there.

Un-retouched, just as it came off the phone.

Went for a drive midday to do an errand about an hour away, and afterward got lost on purpose. It's one of my favorite things to do, driving around exploring unfamiliar backroads. Drove by a couple of pretty lake views, an expansive horse farm with a wide hilltop horizon view, and saw leaves starting to change. I have a new car that's my first with CarPlay, so it's easy to hit home on Maps when it's time to head back. Oh, that's where I was??

Wife and I are thinking about going to a silent retreat for 3 or 4 days.

I also made the mistake of joking that it will be a pleasure for me but a real struggle for her; I assume I'll test the quality of my sofa for sleeping tonight.

They still allow hand gestures....FYI.

A Christmas advert already?!!! Good grief! Next thing you know there will be Christmas merchandise in all the stores again. For a while they were doing that in early September, even before or just after Labor Day in the US but eventually stopped after too many complaints about them rushing the Christmas season and making it much, too much of a commercial thing. Which it has become, anyway......

24th of December would be too early for me!
Here heating has kicked in and temperature is dropping. Feels like we are skipping autumn and heading straight into winter.

We had a big storm last night. My wife said she didn't hear it. I responded that it was because she was snoring louder than the storm.
I think I am rapidly talking my self into a silent retreat...
