Due to Treacher Collins Syndrome I don't look like most other people (except with a passing similarity to others with the same syndrome) so that was one big concern for me about Face ID: I was sure the system would freak out and not register me at all! LOL! It actually WORKED and still does. WOW! I suppose for that reason (the appearance thing) I am not overly concerned about identity theft if it depends upon someone's looks. From what I have always understood, phishing attempts and other means of snagging someone's identity are actually more related to something that is obtained through email or through surreptitiously lifting credit card information at the time of transaction at a vendor or by hacking a vendor's site rather than through any sort of Face ID. ??
To Gutwrench and others who may have been wondering, too, why I don't just simply use AirPods or earbuds: again, it's related to Treacher Collins Syndrome, which among other things causes conductive hearing impairment and due to atresia/microtia, for me the reality is that EarPods, AirPods or earbuds and such do not work. I do have a wonderful set of bone conduction headphones which are wired and another set which are BT, and they work well when I remember to keep them charged and ready for action! 🙂. I also have not bothered to pair the BT ones with my iPads since I can so easily just plug in the wired ones. Yes, whenever I do buy the next generation of iPad Pros I will need to do that. Right now they are paired with my MBP and that works really well. That said, the next set of BAHAs (bone-anchored hearing aids) / sound processors I get, and I'm actually due for a new pair now, will be equipped with BT and wireless connectivity so I will have new options for listening to music and such, even late at night without resorting to my Shokz Titanium BT or my older wired headphones......
