erm what about the affordable Apple monitor with all the ports including ethernet ?
I would not expect that until they release the larger iMac. If they do a monitor, it would likely be based on the iMac screen and design.

The big thing is the return of MagSafe as the USB-C ports are just too fragile for plugging and unplugging the cable for charging. I got a MagSafe like USB cable and it has been working very well.
I have a 2016 MacBook with a single USB-C port that's seen almost daily usage for over 5 years and that USB-C port is fine. This is a non-issue.

Magsafe has disadvantages, it means I can only charge from one side, I have to bring a separate charging cable for my device. I don't think Apple needs to bring back MagSafe for its laptops. Same for HDMI, between docks and Airplay I really don't have any use for it.

An SD card slot is definitely useful though.

In addition to reintroducing ports, the MacBook Pro models are expected to do away with the Touch Bar that's been used since 2016.

We’ll color me surprised. Or not. Unless Apple fully committed to the Touch Bar and had one built into every laptop and keyboard they shipped plus forced it onto all third party keyboards that could be compatible with a Mac then it was never going to work. Even then people would’ve been so upset with Apple forcing them to only buy expensive keyboards with a Touch Bar they don’t want to use that the backlash would’ve forced them to back track on such a requirement. So the notion of mass developer buy in was never really there in the first place which meant it was destined to fail. If I knew that why didn’t the C-level executives who signed off on it know that?

Funny how we get to see almost daily rumor summaries. But I do agree its likely the M something 14"/16" MBP next whenever they finally show up in November. ;)

The assumption is that the USB-C ports will be unchanged so you can charge via USB or MagSafe. I have big dogs and mag safe saves my old MBP several times each week. It’s literally a necessity for me.

Why anyone would believe or entertain anything MacRumors, AppleInsider, 9to5Mac or any other outlet writes after the largest botch of writing articles of what Apple devices will be designed like or what new devices will feature spec wise is beyond me.

For almost a year readers endured articles that pushed baseless claims of designs etc, to only be proving wrong. You all are an absolute desperate joke!
Editors ought to be fired!
You do understand that this is a “rumors” site. Until products are actually released, all we have to go on are rumors. Sometimes those rumors are accurate and sometimes they aren’t. This is not editors getting facts wrong.

Whether because of massive disruption to the manufacturing piplines playing havoc with companies product release plans or Apple seeding misinformation to identify and discredit leakers, the rumors recently have been more off than usual.

In contrast, we have probably gotten too used to very accurate rumors in recent years. In the past, Apple could surprise us with product releases, but as the rumors got more accurate, people complained that we already new what was going to be announced (while still reading every rumor article ahead of the launches.). This time we were surprised. That’s not a bad thing.

Reading rumors is a little game we play with Apple where Apple tries to keep things secret and we look for peaks behind the curtain. Sometimes we win, sometimes Apple wins the game. It’s your choice to play or not.

Confirmed specs so far...

1. Magsafe
2. HDMI port
3. SD Card slot
4. No Touch Bar.
5. New design.

Dude, MR is an entertainment site. Endured??? LOL!

If I haven't seen or heard any good news of when they will release the new 27-30" iMacs, and they release a high end Mac Mini, I probably buy that instead.
If Apple release a good screen I take that too. But otherwise some other screen or 2 can serve well too.

Don’t rely on it too much. Might end up like Apple Watch Series 7

I'm "okay" with magsafe but I love that I can plug just one usb-c cable in from my monitor to charge and also utilize said monitor. I hope I can still charge through usb-c if I want to. Just yet another cable to lug around. I was down to two cables (thanks iPhone and Airpods Lightning port) and I don't want to go back to to three (iPad cable).
I came into the comments to post this. Exclusively using the old MagSafe connector for charging is a regression. A USB-C cable with MagSafe-like fast release functionality is more appealing.

A macrumors editor already replied to me that was a mistake and the image has been corrected.
You apparently don’t know the difference between usb A and HDMI
…or I saw the corrected version. You know what they say about making ignorant assumptions, right? 😀

Let's hope these rumors are not being spoon fed to us by Apple like the square edged Apple Watch Series 7 that was NOT released yesterday :). We will probably end up getting a Macbook Pro 16 with no extra ports ;)

All the rumor and speculation was so spot-on about this last event, I'm SURE all these things are coming! Yeah, that's the ticket. So many new products coming. Any day now. Yep.
