iPhone XS Max What’s the benefits of the XS Max?

The screen acreage is the main point.
Much better for performing tasks such as photos, adjustments and manipulation, small spreadsheets, word processing, watching video, playing games.
Screen size makes those easier or better.
Also, I <think> the cameras and software got some tweaks.

All that said, it’s really just personal preference. If you really like the X, stay with it. Trade in/sell the Max for an Apple Store gift card or cash that can be used for other things. However, only you can answer how the gifter would react/feel about you doing that. :)

OP was comparing x to the Xs max so that’s what I was quoting in comparison

No the OP didn’t:

These of you that purchased the XS Max instead of an XS, what was the reason?

Thanks in advance.

As for the question itself, I’d imagine size, and that you can use Apples zoomed screen mode if you want. Some people prefer a bigger phone as it’s easier for them to use.

I kind of agree with the OP. I had the 6 Plus and the 6S Plus. So of course I wanted the Max. I went through 2 Maxes, whole other story, in the fall and ended up with an X. I actually like the X/XS size better than the Max. Odd for me coming from the Plus sized phones, right? For some reason even though the Max is the same size as the Plus, for me, it just felt heavier and more cumbersome.

I’m not planning to upgrade until 2020 but will look and handle both sizes before making a decision. What would really be cool is the XR size but a tad thinner and with OLED screen.

No i did not, i could not get used to the massive size of the iPhone XS Max and i got it exchanged for an XS, i absolutely love the XS and the size is perfect.

Not a bad option either. I have an X and love the size. Hopefully you got the XS and some credit since the XS Max is a little more.

I get it. The X/XS can just fit in your pocket without feeling like a brick and you can still do one handed operation for the most part.

A brick lol.
But seriously, this is what I feel when I throw my XS Max in the pocket. The weight is more noticeable than my dead iPhone 6s Plus. Not so much as a brick but close. I personally just can’t get away with a smaller sized phone and pressing capacitive home button hurts my thumb a bit.

One handed use for the 5.8 is Perfect, specially for ‘Pocket-ability’ purposes. Although I do like having the Max for More viewabailty with the display, but it’s absolutely horrendous to carry in the pocket.

So what would be your ideal iPhone? An SE with a notch and FaceID?

For me

Bigger screen
Better camera
Battery life

Worth it for me...but the iPhone X still works very well for most use cases

I'm pretty sure the XS and the XS Max have the same camera.
I think the OP is asking about any benefits over the XS vs the XS Max.

I don't see any benefits other than the battery life, especially if you don't like the larger size.

Personally I would use the XS if it wasn't for the larger keyboard size on the Max. I need as large a keyboard as possible.

Bigger screen.

I can see more of my emails, more of my texts, more of the webpages I'm viewing, and watching videos is a better experience.

For me, a significantly better user experience.

I went to a Plus-sized phone with the 6 Plus, have gotten every Plus sized phone since, am now on the XS Max, and will never go back to a smaller form factor again.

I’m on an X coming up on a year and a half and am on the fence whether I want the larger screen or the more comfortable feel in my hand

It won’t take long to adjust to the size of the XS Max.

I went from an X to X Max and I initially thought the size was too big when trailing in shops. Struggled with one handed use etc etc

Only took a week or so to adapt and now it’s the perfect sized phone. Even one handed use is a breeze and the X feels far too small.

The bigger screen size is really the only advantage. For me personally I love the bigger screen, Videos look awesome and the extra real estate is great.... Give it some time and you will probably get used to the size. Your brain will adjust and it will feel normal to you.
My brain adjusted but, my pockets didn’t. I returned it for the XS and happy I did.

I traded an XS for a Max. The only pockets that I notice a difference with is some very old Levi's jeans, which have shorter pockets than more recent versions of the same jeans.

On the apps, I actually find the landscaped presentation of Settings, Messages and Mail mildly annoying. I wish there was a menu pick to turn it off.

At the end of the day, it's the bigger screen and I'm glad I traded.
