I think a lot of states have eased restrictions or completely done away with them.

In my state the “stay at home” order is over thank goodness. Finally.

What’s the first thing you’re doing now that we’re free again? Haha

Couldn’t be happier tbh haha

You totally missed his point - while your state may lift some restrictions, that in no way correlates to having an actual handle on things, proper testing in place, enough PPE, and as such, this might just wind up causing another major surge.

So some of us are going to wait a little longer before we run to "da club" ...

That's the cool thing about the quarantine being lifted. You're still allowed to stay at home and not go out. No one from the government will force you to go outside. All the virus can be outside and you'll be cozy inside wearing your PPE safe and sound :)

Sounds like I'm going to be punished for other people's carelessness. Should be fun!

Hahaha ... JFC.

Our good friends with a super popular restaurant aren't opening up yet, even with things loosening up here in FL. They're like us, being smart, playing it a little safer.

We live in beautiful Vilano Beach, so we go to the beach, we bike, hang out on our deck, get "to go" from several local restaurants, take cruises in my convertible pretty frequently, nobody is sitting around wearing masks in the house, or the car, or the beach, or ...

I'd give you a B- for effort, D for execution :)

You sound like your a big risk taker there. I was watching the news and the reporter talking about people on the beach was saying the virus might just be in the wind outside! Either way you're still allowed to take the risk up to what the government says you can. You just can't exceed that risk. So for those a little concerned that it might not be safe to go to fill in the blank place that is now open they just don't have to.

Agreed.

The problem is you jumped into a clarification post, where I was pointing out to the OP, the user he quoted wasn't saying their state wasn't lifting some of the quarantine protocols, he was saying he's choosing not to change his behavior (regardless of what his state is/isn't allowing ...)

Pretty __simple__ really.

I'm pretty sure I understood that. He's choosing to be extra careful even though he's not required by law to do so. I don't see how I got you confused here?

I’m in the over 60 category. I’ll continue to practice stay at home, wearing protection when I’m out and keeping social distancing until the vaccine comes out. I have no problem with the rest of the under 60 crowd going wild and free.
I think that's a very smart move. If you're in a high risk category there's no point in pushing your luck! I have older friends that aren't as cautious and while I can advise them to be careful, I can't make them take extra care.

The OP was [clearly] confused, I have no idea about your general capacity to properly parse my reasonably clear diction, and I'm obviously not confused ... but anyway, it was meant to point out, some people aren't changing their behavior, regardless of what's happening in their state in terms of quarratine requirements.

Easy enough, right?

I think we were saying the same thing then LOL

We are totally on the same page, I was just trying to separate your comment, from my comment about another comment ... o_O

To be honest, I'm really curious to hear about people's experiences, like, for example, in a restaurant. Here, in FL, they're opening at 25% capacity, __and__ they're still requiring some masks (I can't determine whether it's only required by staff, but I saw conflicting info, like some places might require patrons to wear something when they leave their table ...?)

Just sounds like a miserable experience, but the real problem, in terms of the economic angle, we know quite a few restaurant owners (by way of our friends), and many are saying it doesn't make any sense for them to open like that, they'd rather stick with doing takeout / delivery only.

I'd hate to jump the gun on opening things up (from a medical perspective), and it also not really be effective at getting the economy rolling again.

What is meant by, or understood by, the word "risk" needs to be clarified in this context and in such a discussion.

The question to be asked (of oneself) is not only whether you yourself would be, or might be, at risk (of contracting Covid-19) by heading out, but whether - by heading out - you are placing or putting others at risk of contracting Covid-19.

1. Leave the delivered groceries and parcels on the back porch longer than already do.

2. Add snark to the Broadway Exit sign which resides next to my back door on that porch:

This ain't California... much less Michigan... if u cn rd this sign Ur 2 dang close.

The first thing I'll do is return to my workout club. Sitting at home for 24/7 isn't conducive to good health.

Researcher are saying that Covid-19 will be around for years (I think it's here to stay :( ).

At what point do we open up if the virus will be a major problem until we reach the 60%+ herd natural immunity threshold ?

Social distancing is not economically possible in places like restaurants, movie theaters, concerts, sports events, etc. We have to allow them to open or shut them down permanently.

I don't see how we can be jumping the gun when the virus is here to stay.

You may be disappointed if you are waiting on a vaccine.

If it's possible at all, they are talking 1 1/2+ years.

Can be jumping the gun where the infection rate hasn't plateaued and then is seen to be heading down give or take a few hiccups.

Since we don't have "herd immunity" yet then public health officials in some areas are trying to keep re-opening down to where new infections don't end up hogging more than say one-third of local area hospital facilities at a given time. Lot of places don't think their own figures show they're there yet so they'd like constraints kept on until at least mid-May and then open up gradually.

Think it's mostly about not swamping ICU facilities, and wanting to reopen hospitals for elective surgeries before they hemorrhage enough red ink to start a new wave of mergers and closures.

Got a nice rowing machine, other equipment, doing N-mile bike rides, back to yoga (virtual), probably break out the long board since the beaches are opening 24/7 and during the week (especially at my access point) it'll be quiet (and easy to give everyone lots of room and it's literally just walking a couple of blocks across the street ...), getting tons of sun, probably take the boat out (again, easy to be pretty isolated).

But I definitely won't be headed back into a gym. :) but I get that you have to use what's available to you (with the appropriate risk assessment in place).

I can tell you - but not really - there's some information in the back channels (where Epi-Ds are doing work with medical analytics / machine learning SMEs), there's pretty a positive outlook in the near future.

I’m just glad we can go back to doing normal things now

Go to the stores and shop, hangout with friends, and live our lives normally

As long as you follow your state’s rules you’re good to go
