For me it’s life as usual as well as for all my friends. I think it feels that way for a lot of Americans whose states are back open or opening up.

I’m doing what I would normally do for the most part. There’s a few rules but they’re for our own safety so I don’t mind

Aren't you in finance or something? You might be in a better position to answer: Are there any financial bubbles that still need to be deflated in order to restart the economy?

I’m just glad life’s pretty much normal again. No need to stay home for me because the governor lifted the stay at home order.

Feels really great- a huge relief
It’s not.

What a crazy time the whole virus thing is!
Fixed that for you.

To be honest life isn’t much different for me in lock down or out of it.
But when restrictions are lifted in my country like most intelligent people I’ll not be rushing out to catch a virus that will very much be part of our lives for months if not years!

Anyone who thinks we (in the broad sense) have a handle on the pandemic sufficient to return to life as it was six months ago doesn't understand the situation. Until there is either an effective vaccine, potent therapeutics, or both, we'll be in danger. I'm optimistic about therapy with drugs, convalescent serum, or synthetic antibodies, but we're not there yet.

This doesn't require continued quarantine for everyone except those at high risk if they contract COVID-19. It means opening up with care, maintaining physical distancing as much as possible, and especially universal masking to limit transmission from asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic individuals. And, lest anyone below 60 think they won't be affected, we are seeing cases of significant adverse effects in that age group.

One of the greatest risks is a surge of hospitalizations in areas that haven't been overwhelmed to date. I'm afraid that the return of crowds to beaches and other venues will lead to that, not to mention what will happen when the next seasonal flu hits in the fall.

I’ve been living my life like normal while following my states guidelines and that’s what I’m going to continue to do.

If your state is open and you choose to stay at home then that’s your fault.

Fault? Where’s the fault? Choosing not to put yourself at unnecessary risk and extra strain on the health service so you can go hook up with who knows who sounds very sensible to me.

Yeah I think so I mean I definitely trust our governor. I’ve been looking for life to get back to normal for awhile and it’s great to basically be living it again. Sure there’s some new rules but again, they’re not bad at all. I feel pretty free to live my life. Nothing really impeding me.

And I’m so grateful that our country is opening up. It’s about time. Everybody just wants to get back to business as usual and I feel like it basically is

You are talking like the virus is over and life is returning to normal. I really fear for mankind when there are people with your thought process around....

"Quarantine" is still in effect where I am (Northeast NJ) , even though the Governor opened the state and county parks this weekend . People are out , but maintaining distance , avoiding groups and probably 85-90% wearing masks as they should . I'm basically laying low until our Governor gives the (gradual) all clear . The virus might be a joke in other parts of the country , but it's serious over here . We've got nearly 16,000 cases and way over 1K dead in my county (Bergen) . I personally know 3 who passed . I'm far from staying crouched in fear in my basement ; but I'm not going to do anything stupid that could have me ending up in a box in a trailer .

The NY/NJ metro area stats are crazy. Even though the "curve may be flattening" and the governor opened up the state and country parks, life is long shot away from being normal.

My son has been living with us since the beginning of April, we extricated him from NYC to minimize his risk. The only places we visit are food and hardware stores and it's a sad sight to see the customers with masks and gloves.

We know 4 families infected with covid. No deaths, but two families all occupants got sick. One family the husband was on a ventilator for a week. He's home now and feeling better, but he's on week 5 of still being weak.

Nope, life isn't going to return to normal for a while. Especially in Manhattan. Who the heck is going to want to ride the subway, rails or buses?

People who act like this was a non-event, will either wind up by being sick or get people sick themselves.

It’s a free country so if someone rather stay at home that’s up to them but then saying “life isn’t back to normal” when the state is open doesn’t quite make sense

No, what "doesn't quite make sense" is anyone who attempts to persuade themselves that "life is back to normal" (irrespective of what any governor has permitted), when approximately 59,000 people have already died from this condition in a short time period of a mere two months in the US, (more than died over a time period spanning several years during the entire Vietnam War), and - given both how infectious, and contagious as well as how deadly and lethal this condition is, it is very likely that many thousand more will die before a vaccine is developed that may afford some degree of protection or immunity from it.

Yeah but that’s the past. Now my state is open and so are many other states in our country (USA)

The governor gave us the clear (minus a few very reasonable rules)

25% capacity in places that are open
Masks by service personnel and patrons in some cases
No sporting events
No theme parks
No concerts

On top of that, none of this is even occurring until May 15th in New York, and it's not even statewide:

If hospitalizations continue to fall, Cuomo said some parts of the state will have met the CDC guidelines by May 15, but “not New York City, not downstate, unless a miracle happens.”

No, it is not "the past"; it is very much the living present.

Your state may be "open", but nothing I have read suggests that this virus is any less lethal or less contagious than it has been so far; or, for that matter, that the death rate is decreasing, flattening, or even plateauing.

Just make sure your sources are accurate. I’m going with the official state advice and rules to be safe rather than here say and rumors.

You said that already, you're still avoiding all the other activities, the limited access, the fact that's not even until May 15th, and not all of "your" state. It's clearly not the free-for-all you're suggesting. You were even asked a question relating to your occupation that you completely avoided. You're being deliberately obtuse, and I think we all know why. ;)

Well it just depends on the person.

If someone chooses to stay home then that’s their choice, but then why complain about things not being normal?

But for others like myself and my friends I’d rather just follow the governors advice and just live basically like normal again ;)

When it's safe to do so, I'm getting a haircut then traveling two states away to see my fiancé and take her out to dinner at a nice restaurant. Of course, that's going to be somewhat dependent on her likelihood of exposure(i.e. two weeks since she last was in contact with a known infection).

I also went to drive in church this morning, but I'm going to look forward to returning to actually being able to attend. I'm guessing it may be middle to end of summer before that's really possible/safe.

It's looking like the end of the month before my state will allow things like barber shops, and my financé's state is under stay at home until May 31st.

I'm still going to take things slow even when things do reopen, though. Permission to reopen doesn't mean you have to run out and do everything you could once do.

Just because (as per usual) you can't make sense of things, it doesn't mean everyone else is walking around blind to what's going on.

It won't take much for infections and mortality rates to spike again. And it'll be the careless ones who will be the first to complain if they find themselves living under stricter restrictions again.

First thing, I am going to do is get money from taking Graduation photos. I lost a lot of money because of this and now I got a good zoom lens I can be way farther than 6 feet for a good portrait photo

Who’s complaining? But I think you need to check what your governor actually said. Live normally again? I very much he said that unless he’s a complete idiot!

Well I use verified sources for information, like my governors twitter. Not fringe websites for my info

Nice! I'm sorry to hear that happened but I think people would be very keen on the zoom lens idea. Also, most of my friends take their college photos outside anyway all around campus, so it's basically like being at the park which has been open even during the stay at home order
