"Curiois tech people" are the ones who lined up to buy the original iPhone, which took what, two months? three? to hit one million sales. The iPad sold 15 million in it's first year. That kind of number isn't just "curious tech people." And demand for the second gen is so far outstripping supply. Personally, I think the iPad is "just getting started,” as Apple says in their latest tv ad.

Its all in ones perspective. I'm probably way too active in sports, and other outside activities to fully understand the allure of sitting indoors with one for long periods.

Ah, I see. While for me and others who have no choice but to stay indoors most of the time due to illness, disability or other debilitating conditions, an iPad is a godsend. It really gives us something to do! :D

It's just an eaier way of research, web browsing, emails while lounging around the house. You can use it on the bed, couch, kitchen table, office the iPad has a wide range of purposes due to the apps which allows it to do pretty much anything I want or need it to.

Who says you have to stay indoors to use one? I use mine on the train, when I'm waiting for someone at a coffee shop, I use it on the airport and airplane when traveling, I use sometimes when hanging out at the park...

At first I thought it was a luxury and nothing more. Then I finally broke down and got one.

I travel a lot for work and I wanted smething I can take with me that would allow me to surf the Internet without using the company laptop. The iPad fit the bill as I needed something as light as possible while maximizing battery life.

Its replaced my MBP around 70% of the time. Only use it when I'm editing music (trucks/heavy lifting) but other than that? This thing is practically my main computer.

I'm beginning to wonder. Went to the Apple Store early last week to get my her birthday. So I go in the kitchen a few minutes ago and she's watching YouTube videos on the PC at the desk there while the iPad collects dust. It's about a month away from being commandeered!

reminded me: i bought the wife an ipod nano (before they got rediculously small) to have all her music on and even got her a nice dock so she could listen to all our music while at work.

..she never uses it..

Hey Bernard, I'm starting to really change my mind on gettin one. Very tempting lately..

Mate, if you have the finances (which I'm sure you do :D), just go for it, you won't regret it; you will increasingly ask yourself how you survived before having it :p.

Got the iPad to surf the web, check Facebook and play with other apps along with look at pictures. Will also use the iPad for road trips instead of bringing the laptop. It does everything my laptop can do plus won't have to bring another extra backpack like I normally do when I bring my computer.

The apps on the iPad are just downright awesome. The iPhone and other phone apps don't even compare. I got mine originally to do mockups and brainstorming sessions with clients using various apps like Adobe Ideas, iMockups, Index Card, SimpleNote, and iThoughts HD. And I use an app to invoice clients from the iPad while still on site. Projects are managed with Things for iPad by Cultured Code.

Flipboard and Instapaper on the iPad are worth buying the device all by themselves. And Airplay from the iPad to the Apple TV is probably my favorite feature. Browse content on the large display with a very nice interface, tap a button, and the video is on your big screen HDTV and surround sound system.

Then there's Garage Band, iMovie, Netflix, EyeTV, Air Video, Hulu Plus, Infinity Blade, Real Racing HD, and I could go on and on just looking at what I have on my home screen.

This is by far the best entertainment device I've ever owned. If I had to choose between my PS3, my HDTV, and my iPad and could only have one of them I would choose the iPad with no hesitation. Internet, email, TV, apps, movies, books, games. etc. all enjoyed with a better and more enjoyable experience than my Macbook Pro or iPhone 4.

I travel a lot for work, and bought the iPad mainly for the cheap 3G data plan on a screen large enough to read and book hotels on.

A mobile data plan for a netbook was $60/month when I bought my first iPad 1 over a year ago, and with a $15/month charge instead, figured my iPad 1 would pay for itself in less than 2 years.

Since then, I've found the iPad works a lot better than a netbook, and is also far more portable and more convenient to use when on the road.

I use the iPad at home, but not so much for work. For that I need a laptop with far more power and functionality.

At first when I ordered mine, I wasn't too sure regarding which use I would make of it. Would I really use it? Do I really need this?

I got mine 3 weeks ago and since then, I use it at least 3 hours a day. It replaces my iMac at home about 90% of the time. I use it mainly for reading and consuming media.

I also use it quite a bit at work - I barely print paper anymore.

I'm very pleased with my purchase!

I can use my Macbook Pro but.....

iPads are really just a luxury item. It's like buying Gucci, LV, Prada, Tiffany & Co etc...or even a super car.

They can also enhance your "image" such as in business workplaces.
