The ONE THING that would improve my iPad immeasurably is:

Arrow/Cursor Keys on the Keyboard.

They could be semi transparent sitting above the keyboard, they could be in an unconventional layout running across the top bar of the keyboard. . .

It would make correcting/editing typing so so much quicker over the 'use your finger to position the cursor in the magnifying glass that is mostly hidden under your finger' method.

I forgot about this. Requested this day 1 of iPad 1. I don't know wtf apple don't add this or why their isnt a jailbreak to add this to the top of the KB.

The biggest hassle is not being able to upload pics to forums or websites from the device.

Why is this impossible?

You can with the Photobucket app. I thought iOS5 would of covered this. I'm still on 4.3 so i don't know, but Photobucket app is the key.

The difficulty in uploading a pic is not the fault of the iPad but the fault of the app. If you can use apps like photobucket as mentioned, picasa, Flickr, etc, to upload pics, then again it's the fault of the app for not putting the feature in, such as tapatalk.

I was just reading the Steve jobs bio & it stated that he hated cursor keys. I agree I could see them useful every once in a while.

Well at least he didn't have the arrow keys removed from the Bluetooth keyboard. In fact those are supported in iOS.

EDIT: Could someone tell me how the Photobucket app uploads anything to a website? I downloaded the app and I see no possible way to do that. Yes, it provides links, just like any other app. But, it doesn't upload the file. So, as stated before, this is one of my most disappointing things about the iPad. And, as stated before, all of these headaches (in my opinion) stem from the lack of a conventional file system.

Thank goodness. Honestly, until I figured out all of the keyboard commands, the iPad was useless for content creation. Editing was a nightmare without a mouse (and no cursor keys). But, with the BT keyboard, I don't even miss the mouse, and this seemingly tiny thing has turned the iPad into my main computer these days.

Lack of file system. It's a tablet... many business use it. A file system is a must have especially since its quite often when documents need to be uploaded.

Have you looked into any research regarding this topic? I'm just curious? There is NO app that allows you to upload to a website? There is NO app that allows you to view multiple files? None? NONE?!? What has this world come too!!!

i've done a bit of research on the topic. i'd be glad to see some constructive advice to help me out here, because these are issues a lot of us have trouble with. judging by your response, i don't think we have made it clear to you what the issues are. i'll explain them again for you:

1. i cannot upload files to websites (specifically blackboard)
2. i cannot view a single file with multiple apps. in other words, i have several hundred pdfs in goodreader, and while i would like to use other pdf readers like iannotate or pdfexpert, i would basically have to duplicate all of the files to do that, or juggle files between them.

obviously, neither of these problems exists with a traditional computer. and, if i am not mistaken, they don't exist with android. apple built these limitations into the device.

As I said in an earlier post, iCab does have an upload function. However because the feature isn't officially supported in iOS, it relies on a workaround that doesn't work with all sites.

Thank you. As I said in an earlier post, I haven't gotten iCab to work anywhere. At least not anywhere I regularly visit, so it isn't much use (even though I like the browser).

thank you for the clarification. i wasn't sure what issues you were having.

i could see your issues with uploading to blackboard. i have the same problem with devry. i have the idevry app, or whatever it's called. i can post to discussions, but not attach files. for my assignments i work on my mac anyway because i connect to their ilab to access the ms apps they require, excel/access/visio/etc. so i understand your frustration there. don't know of a fix for this yet. i honestly don't use my ipad as a replacement for my laptop, but as a complement. but i could see the frustration where you do try to use it closer to a full featured laptop.

regarding the 2nd issue. have you tried something like this:

http://www.digidna.net/products/fileapp

seems like a pretty good full feature app. with your files there it has the option for "open in" this may allow you to then use the apps you prefer. i was doing some research just this weekend because i often hear that same issue with not having a file system. this app seems to address and solve it. worth a shot at least right? i downloaded it myself, but haven't had enough time yet to try it out. going back to my devry issue, i had lab work due last night, lol.

but i'll try it out this week and report back if you'd like. it's all about sharing information right? hope this constructive advice might help you.

for stuff i have to upload, i just wait until i get home or save it for later in the week when i fire up the mbp. it's a minor frustration, but there nonetheless. in practical terms, when i go on trips, for example, it seems silly to bring a computer just in case i have to upload something to blackboard.

2.
as for fileapp, thanks for the advice. it is an intriguing app. but, it doesn't solve the problem, because it is an issue with the way ios is set up. short of jailbreaking, i don't see a solution. in order to view a file in another app you still have to replicate it. in addition, it also seems to play poorly with others. you cannot open a pdf in it from safari and you cannot open a pdf from it in goodreader.

Yeah, schools & services like blackboard will have to start conforming more to mobile standards & understanding that many people use this form factor. I mean we are working on a mobile os, so we have to expect some limitations. Yeah, when my wife & I plan trips we do some creative scheduling to get our work done. Lol.

From what I understand your files reside in this app. Then you "open in" the other apps you want to use, so from this app you have your PDF, select it & click "open in" & then select the app, such as good reader. I'll have to give it a try. Like I said I just haven't had time.

"open in" means that the app takes a file, copies it into another app, and opens it there. every time you select "open in" you copy the file, so unless you are disciplined about deleting files anywhere you open them, the process creates quite a mess.

in usage, i see no difference between this app and any other. i have hundreds of files in iannotate. i could open them in goodreader (actually, fileapp cannot do this for some reason) or any number of other apps, with the same messy results.

what i would like is "open with", and to have the file remain where it is. that is how it works with a conventional file system. as far as i can tell, the ipad is designed to prevent this, and i have not seen any app that can get around this limitation. so, i have to either settle on one pdf app (bad for me and developers) or lose a lot of valuale storage space.
