I don't take my iPad to pretentious places, to do pretentious things.

I go to places to do things there, not bring my digital crutch with me.

- I go the park, I enjoy the park, not to browse the news, look at *insert social media drudgery here*
- I go to a sporting event to watch the sporting event, not read Macrumors
- I go somewhere and NEED a distraction for a minute or two, or look up a fact - I whip out the phone, get what I need quickly, put the phone pack in my pocket, and live life

I use my iPad at home, or homes of relatives, 95+% of the time. That's how I "justify" my wifi only iPad, and I'd have it no other way.

I mostly use my iPad at home because I take the subway back and forth for work, which has barely any cell service. Plus I don't want to carry a bag. Sometimes I'll use my iPad out of the house and tethering with my iPhone is easy enough.

Even if I did use it out of the house more, I'd tether it to save the upfront cost as well as the monthly line access fee.

Yes, of course. Just pick some scenarios that suit your argument.

- I go to coffee shops and study in uni. Don't want to rely on their "slow" wifi or log in everytime I visit. Or in uni's case, tell me what I can and can't visit.
- Not EVERYONE has a Personal Hotspot feature enabled on their phones, so don't keep using that as a strong alternative. And while I do have the Personal Hotspot enabled on my phone, for some reason an hour later the internet connection just stops working and I have to switch off and on the feature again. It's annoying at times.
- I drive around a lot. WiFi iPad lacks GPS. Forget about doing any navigation on it. Ever. And before you say, use your phone, using GPS sucks your battery, smaller screen to navigate especially when you don't have a 6+/6s+, incoming phone calls interrupt navigation...
- Photos taken on WiFi iPads must be connected to WiFi to get any sort of location data stored in the photo otherwise you won't get any. Photos taken with a cellular iPad will always have location data, with or without data.
- Apple SIM makes international use for the iPad much better.

That's how I "justify" my own cellular iPad.

Basically we all have different uses. You like your Wifi iPad, fine! But don't go implying that the cellular iPad is useless when it's not.

The original poster basically flat out told people they're stupid for using Wifi, then Count Blah just counters that with the scenarios and reasoning behind his wifi-only iPad, intentionally using the same language and tone as the thread starter (implying cellular is useless only because that's what the thread starter said about wifi). It was an intentional style mirror for emphasis.

Smart man, and AWESOME avatar

If a consumer finds that a cellular iPad works better for them, great. I'm happy they are able to buy what they want. The same should be said for wifi only folks. Only problem is that the OP was amazingly arrogant toward the wifi only folks.

I really felt he was just being arrogant to non-inventors...

The REAL question is how cool do you look inventing in public?
The iPad Pro was specifically designed to support the narcissistic "Look At Me" I'm a Cool Apple Gadget owner lifestyle. Big, Bold, Obscenely expensive and sure to attract the attention of the masses, Apple's elitist types thrive on feeling superior.

I pay $10/month for a tablet add-on to my family sharing where I can access the pool of data on my iPad. For $10/month it is worth it I think. I also get GPS. I have tried tethering and although it works, it is not the same experience as having an always connected Cellular iPad.

Having said this, if your iPad stays at home or at work 99% of the time and access to WiFi then Cellular is not worth it.

A while back ago there was an article online about the iPod being more safe and secure for those that care about privacy compared to the iPhone as there is no cell tracker for tracking. I assume this applies to the iPad as well if it is an only wifi model.

Or for those of us that use it for work...not looking to attract attention...just have a mobile device that fits in with our workflow. Because if I am not using it, then I am not going to carry it around.
