This.
The port brings so much weakpoint to the phone. With wireless charging and wireless headphones, it's a big improvement in usability.
Except when you want to charge the phone on the go. Battery case aside, cable charging with power bank is still better in this regard.

Do you sync via WiFi? I'm a dinosaur so I still sync over USB.
Add me who also uses USB. Wireless is still unreliable compared with wired connection. Every time I want to use personal hotspot on my Mac or PC, I always plug the USB cable.

I have used dental "interproximal brushes" and some isopropyl alcohol to clean the charger ports and clearing a iPhone headphone port that was plugged with lint - worked great for both cases

there are 100% plastic versions if you are worried about the metal ones

I sync via usb via iTunes once a week while backing up to the cloud each evening.

Never tried the sync via WiFi. Might just give it a try
What do you guys need to sync with iTunes? Doesn’t iCloud sync everything? Even Google and Microsoft can sync everything to the cloud on iPhone.

Some of us “guys and gals” take an extra step to make sure they do not lose their data. I have had an iCloud backup corrupted and refused to restore my phone before. I always do an iTunes encrypted backup once a week.

I sync to put music on my iPhone. Also I only back up to my Mac, never iCloud.
