Yup. Previous Post day. See Abstract's hypothesis :

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/678676/

That link takes me to Page 12 of this thread

I think we had a misunderstanding - I'm talking about Rule P representing account activity, not posting activity (Rule R), which was what was previously established. That's why I don't think it makes sense to call Rule P "Previous Post day" as it seems to be tied to account activity and not posting activity. Or maybe we're just talking about completely different things.

ohh i see. you bastard hiding everything!! I WANT TO KNOW!

could it be the year joined? possibly..

And, since there are about 32 flags on here, the internet is at least 32 years old. I think that DoFoT9 knows some pretty good people... The rest of us didnt get internet for quite a while longer.

Sorry. I had to.

On a different note, It isnt 1st thread either.

Little HZ and MattyMac are my testers, primarily since Little HZ only had 4 posts so only certain shared things are possible, and they are hopefully easier to find, unless if you have not started a new thread it is random...

smartarse

my IQ isnt high enough to make proper assumptions, im just yelling out the first thing that jumps into my head ok lol!

I'm talking about Rule P. Mine Rule R flag has changed quite a lot as well.

Has it been the same colour twice?

(e.g., light blue --> orange --> red --> light blue)

If someone wants me to, I could relate all the usernames on one page to the total number of posts they made today. ;)

Format is.......[Member Name]: [Flag Colour] (posts today)

Abstract: Red (28 )
Techfreak: Blue (25) ---> actually it's 28, but 3 were into the Wasteland. :p
imaketouchtheme: Light Blue (24)
Hydroman: Green (8)
AmbitiousLemon: Green (5)
Doctor Q: Orange (21)
Scippy: Light Blue (1)
Peace: Light Blue (39)

....and the list goes on......

Ok.....so flag colour has nothing to do with the total number of posts you've made today (and therefore, not related to your post rate today). I'm not keen enough to try to analyse hourly post rate. ;) Besides, I haven't posted in hours, and yet my flag is still red. Isn't that evidence that flag colour is not affected by either daily post rate, or hourly post rate?

Ok, here's the experiment. I'll go and spam the forums like I normally do, and I'll come back after 3 posts and post my flag colour. ;)

This is my 2nd post since 11:08 PM. I just need 3.

EDIT: My 5th post since 11:08 PM, and no change. Still red.

EDIT 2: My 6th post. No change. I'm just posting to confirm that the 5th post isn't the threshold, where the change happens on the 6th post. ;)

EDIT 3: 10th post. No change. Still red.

EDIT 4: 11th post. No change. Still red.

I don't think Rule R is rate of posts or number of posts or anything like that, as I've only posted two times today and imaketouchtheme has posted 24 times today (all in the last few hours), yet we have the same icon.

Alright, here's an updated update of the updated version (no pun intended):

Rule 'A' - Avatar
Rule 'P' - Previous post day
Rule 'R' - ?????????*
Rule 'I' - Initial join date
Rule 'L' - Length of username
Rule '1' - ??????????

*Needs more proof.
I think I've shown that 'R' isn't related to post rate.

Lets think about 'Rule 1'......the one with the flags. Ok, someone here said that there were 32 flags being used. I didn't check myself, but lets say that's accurate. I really don't know, but lets assume.

Lets also assume that Q has created this puzzle, and it's bound to be really geeky. :p Binary has got to be part of this, no? Perhaps the 32 flags = 2^5 flags has something to do with it? Also, I don't think anybody has reported a flag change, so it's probably something static, and therefore, not at all related to post count. It must be related to some other data in your profile. I just don't know what.

Also, about the flag colours: Some of you claim that your flag colour has changed multiple times, while others have reported no change at all. That means it's not static for some people. Changes over time can either be related to the time of day (I doubt it), or related to post count. I've posted around 35 times today, and I don't believe my flag colour has changed all day (although I'm not 100% sure). Perhaps it's easier to induce a change in flag colour when you have a low post count? Perhaps the change in flag colour isn't linearly dependent on post count. If it were, all our flags would be changing colour.

I believe that Q said earlier that it was WC developed it. And the information is public, so I don't believe that it would be something like that.

Gah! I really hope it's not that nerdy. That sounds hard to crack and I wanted answers before tomorrow.

Ok, assume 32 flags is correct. How come they don't change? Like I said, it must be something in your info, and how would you sytematically assign flags without involving numbers or counting something? I'm not sure if you could do that easily.

Anyway, lets say it's based on member number. I'm the 13653rd member to join MacRumours. If there are actually 32 flags, then perhaps the solution is related to how many times your member number can be divided by the number 32, or it's related to the remainder value (or decimal places), which would give every member at MR a number ranging from 1-32. So in my case:

mod (13653/32) = 21.

Or the long way:

13653/32 = 426.65625.

The remainder is 0.65625, or 21/32. ;)

Then we can work out this value for every member, and see if there's any relationship. :p :D

For RULE "P" (the 2nd icon)

...

Plain paper: Today
March 31st: Green Globe:
March 30th: Paint brush:
...
March 6th: Chain link (or silver hexagon thingy)
March 5th: Yellow key:
March 4th: Blue Arrow, right
All of your sample data is from March and April. How 'bout picking a few other random samples from random forum members to see if your pattern holds?
