what i mean by stupid questions is like in the mbp forum there are like a million "when is the new mbp coming out" threads

because they could just mroogle and find out they're answer without annoying the crap out of everybody else

Oh, I see what you mean now. See post #2 for another example of one who doesn't use MRoogle or reads the FAQs for MR.

like im not saying im a demi god or whatever ....

A Demi-God or Goddess can be a "newbie" member. Anyone with PayPal and $25 USD can be a Demi.
Your question regarding user titles makes me laugh when you then say:
you ask alot of stupid questions and have never heard of mroogle.
:rolleyes:

Am I the only one who thinks it's strange that the OP has a problem with newbies who ask "stupid" questions?

-aggie-, no you're not the only one here that is thinking that. All I get from the OP is he has a problem with new members, he has implied that they're all stupid which is insulting to new members, and then clarifies it with the fact that newbies are annoying to everyone else. tflournoy95, do yourself a favor and don't speak for "everyone else". I don't feel the way you feel. :cool: Newbies, or new members have often had a great deal to offer.

Yes, it's always frustrating to have Forum Spy flooded with a zillion duplicate threads on common topics such as "buy or wait", "my Mac has a virus", "13" vs 15"", etc., etc., etc.. However, I do have one point of curiosity. I noticed that a great number of the "MBP update" threads over the past week have been started by newbies whose first post in the forums is to start such a thread. Maybe it's a normal occurrence, but it made me wonder if several of those user accounts were set up by the same person, just to flood the forum with repetitive threads. I wonder if mods ever look at IP addresses of first-time posters to see if they may be multiple accounts by the same person.

I learned that in 2005 after 3 years of 'Guesting' it. Besides I'm against the discrimination of Newbies or noobs (as the OP spells it). We all started somewhere, you know... all that locus to butterfly malarky.

Yeah. I doubt I will ever have an avatar

The more popular :apple: becomes, the more noobs on MR... ;)

From the MacRumors FAQ...
User titles are based on post counts:

Newbie => 0 - 29 posts
Member => 30 posts
Regular => 100 posts (minimum required to post in the Politics, Religion, Social Issues forum)
6502 => 250 posts (minimum required for access to the Marketplace forum)
6502a => 500 posts (minimum required to have an avatar)
65816 => 1,000 posts
65832 => 1,500 posts
68000 => 1,505 posts
68010 => 2,000 posts
68020 => 2,005 posts
68030 => 2,500 posts
68040 => 3,000 posts
601 => 5,000 posts
603 => 10,000 posts
604 => 15,000 posts
G3 => 20,000 posts
G4 => 25,000 posts
G5 => 30,000 posts

I think there are quite a few people that frequent the forums that don't find the need to post anything.

There are also a lot of examples of people posting to threads that have been answered, yet they seem to just go on forever without any real original input.

I personally wish that there was a way to track individual original posts vs. just quantity, but so what. If I allowed the internet to bother me, it would detract from the imaginary things in my head that bother me. :p

Oh well. I like to tell myself that it's just the internet............. not real life ;)

That depends on whether you're satiated with letting your life be the internet.

Sorry, off topic I know. Darn it. doumbek I'm sorry I think I'm turning into one of them... Eesh.

it seems to me (especially concerning the title of this thread) that a good number of people on here, while most are very welcoming, would just prefer to be in their own little bubble and enjoy "their" brand, as well as their established order of forum hierarchy/importance.

would that be an incorrect statement? this is just the "vibe" I get after being here for a short while and seeing/experiencing some of the venom thrown towards newbs. granted, some of them may deserve it, but this is just my opinion.

It used to be. At least when I joined. A new user had to have a valid email address.

Now I think any person with a yahoo,MSN, or google account can join.

Biggest mistake ever imho.

In a certain sense, yes, we eat our young. But only the terminally stupid ones. That's only proper evolutionary practice, is it not? ;)

Any community has a particular order and traditional process of acceptance. Those that disrupt or disrespect that—anywhere, not just here—do so at their peril. whether online or on the savannah.

One could say it's unfair, or merely having to "pay one's dues," but this is how human social interaction works. Socialization skills are either learned and adhered to or one becomes shunned. It's always been that way and always will be, and MR is neither an enforcer or apologist for it, it merely reflects how people interact everywhere, physically or virtually.

It's pretty pathetic that you're annoyed by something you could easily avoid. It seems the real problem is you having nothing better to do than read the "million threads" and get butt hurt because they're all the same. People are just looking for some simple advice, not everyone has the time to search a "million threads" looking for one answer. Quit whining and get off your high horse.

It seems like everybody thinks I have something against "newbies" I prefer noob from playing videogames. I really don't. I normally don't even look to see someones "rank" I guess you could call it. I just noticed cuz I was thinking about how many threads asking when the new mbps were coming out, I just started paying attention. So then I realized it was almost always the "newbies" making these threads. So I just made this thread. I wasn't trying to hate on the newbies or whatever I was just wondering if anybody else noticed.

65832? Did Apple ever use that chip? Oh, it was a follow on to the 65816 but apparently was never made. The //GS would have been the most likely Apple product to use it...

That's why you maintain that level for only 5 posts.

I always though that if I even got there, I'd retire this account from posting.

:D

Using 'they're' instead of their annoys the mess out of me, and I'm new here so I guess we're even...:cool:

And, um, you have to have 250 posts to buy anything here!? Wow. I can understand that to sell anything, but buying? If the green is in your PayPal account, then you could ship me something, couldn't you!??? I'm lost...
