Not an OS X thing . Tried to open MR on a Linux machine and the same popup occurred . Seems to be gone now .

Nah, it just morphed. Now it's going straight to downloading the .exe, instead of the Ip redirect. I hate this sort of BS. Personally, I wish the powers of the world would agree on capital punishment, for these low lifes.

For people that know tech, it's just a minor annoyance. But I know so many people who's systems have been rendered pretty much unusable, do to malware and BS like this. At a minimum, they need an ass-kicking. Grrr.....

No pop-up anymore. I think it's been taken care of now

Yeah, instead of adding the filter (solution) I mentioned in the post right above yours, post a giant screenshot showing us what we already know.

Sorry to have offended you    but it's been my experience with most site admins that as much information as possible about a problem helps them FIX it. I appreciate your solution(which I'm now using), but it's just a work around and doesn't FIX the deeper problem.

A screenshot tends to be one of the most expedient ways of getting the site admins more information. If they don't find my post useful, they certainly can delete it.

Again, please accept my sincerest apologies for offending you by posting what you judged to be redundant information.

Thanks again for your very helpful suggestion and solution, @MagnusVonMagnum; I have used it and it appears to have worked, and - as I posted earlier - I am most grateful to you.

However, not everyone is effortlessly au fait with such things, ad no need to be impatient with those who get stressed rather than being able to solve the problem - for this was a bit of an upset on a nice, autumnal, Saturday night, and initially, I had no idea of how to deal with it, and was resigned to having to get one of my Apple specialist chaps - the store I bought this computer from - deal with it next week when both he and I had time to do so.

Indeed, when following your instructions, I found had to minimise your post and transcribe the instructions in order to be able to successfully carry it out. Anyway, my thanks to you. It worked and I am both impressed and grateful.

Well, I do understand where you are coming from; I was a bit startled myself when the site became more or less inaccessible.

However, @MagnusVonMagnum was trying to be helpful, and for now, a temporary solution is more than welcome until whatever underlying issues are identified and dealt with.

Ill take care of it, if it is page fair

Fantastic; I look forward to it.

Looks like they admitted the issue:

https://twitter.com/Pagefair/status/660615885766434816

sorry about it. We installed pagefair to see what our ad-blocking percentage was, which is something they measure.

A hands up is always welcome, and far better than sullen defensiveness.

Good, if that has dealt with the issue.

What about the members who have been blocked from accessing the site? Can they now access it without having to deal with Pagefair themselves?

issue seems to be gone for me as well. It kind of freaked me out when it had some flash.exe try to automatically start to download though.
Thanks for fixing the pop up problem. :)

Did you click ok, or did it just try to download without clicking it?

I think I did click ok being dumb and knowing I did not have flash installed. It did not start right away though. I then saw the thing jump down into my downloads but was able to trash it.

When I access MacRumors forums, I get this pop-up message that says:

WARNING: Your Flash Player Plugin is outdated! Upgrade to continue!

I get this message on my MBP, iMac and iPhone on LTE...

Or.... Was my router hacked....?

I got this same message on my iPad Air. Oddly enough, I'm not getting it at all on my 6S Plus.
