I am seriously pissed off with the Kamala ads when scrolling, its after every article, hell if I open one, it stops scrolling with a full page photo of a smiling Kamala on my face.. There is no way to close this, the only way is to wait for the ad to disappear.

Its ok to be funded by a certain party but doesnt mean that the site becomes unusable for almost everyone!

I came to read up on the new releases and became overwhelmed with the inescapable full page Harris ads, this is damn ridiculous and the website is basically un usable because it pops up every few minutes!

There shouldn't be any political ads appearing on our site as we are opted out of them, but occasionally one slips through. We'll report it to our ad provider.
So what are you doing about it! It's now 3.5 days since you indicated action would be taken - yet the political ad is still there gumming up what should be my enjoyable viewing of macrumors vs politics.

Such a hot mess. Takes the entire page over and no way to dismiss it at all.

It isn't and it is driving me crazy, cannot get through an article without it popping up multiple times. I'll be back after the election.
Totally. It appears on EVERY damn page. EVERY ONE! I can't scroll for more than 45 seconds without it appearing.

What I have noticed is that when I log into my account for browsing I dont see those ads, However, if I am on a browser where I have not logged in, I rather just close that tab.

So is it really an issue?
Don't you browse the forum when logged in so you can post comments and engage?

Everyone take a deep breath

It's ok

This is just an AD on a web forum

I think the biggest revelation from this thread is the amount of users who don't use ad-blockers in 2024. 🤔

That's not an excuse for an intrusive, disruptive ad to be run, but this ad's content seems to be the main reason it's a problem. If it were an ad for a different political campaign, we'd probably see a different group of users posting about it.

The things you don't see when you use an ad-blocker...I prefer the bliss of ignorance.

That's honestly all I kept thinking about too 😬

So it doesn't do it when logged in .. and obviously also only if one isn't using a blocker

I would have thought basically everyone posting at MR is logged in and likely using a blocker/moderator of some form

Color me surprised for sure

This particular add is preceded by a “please rotate device” black screen that overlays the MR content 100% horizontally, leaving only a small strip visible vertically, asking at the bottom to scroll to view content. But when you scroll, the black screen follows the scroll making it impossible to read MR. This started on my M2 12.9 iPad Pro iOs 17.7 about 10 days ago, almost every day but yesterday and today again. When you follow the prompt to actually your device, it brings up an ad that almost entirely overlays MR content. This ad only shows when reading the MR front page, not on any other website!!!!!

its not the content of the ad that's the problem, the problem to me is I am unable to navigate and read the content I'm intending to get to. its auto plays audio and video while the content disappears. advertise and promote whoever you want, but there should 1) be an option to disregard 2) not overtake YOUR content for YOUR user/customer base, seems like (regardless of political affiliation) whoever is managing this is doing MacRumors a disservice. I can't even scroll through and consume/read any content I'm trying to. I'm not going to use a third party browser and manage someone else's site, this should be fixed at this point as it appears to be ongoing for over week or so now.
