I hate both, and I would have to say the cigarette is the most annoying (mostly because I don't really know anyone that smokes cigars and so I don't know if its that disgusting or not).

I hate smokers...

Once, many years ago, I had a room-mate that arrived from a party, and his jacket was filled with the smell of cigarrete smoke, and at the middle of the night I had to go outside because I couldn't breath!

the sad thing is that some smokers outlive the "healthy" bunch :(

So anyways. I was always told that cigars aren't too bad for you since you don't inhale smoke, but then again they can also cause mouth cancer. It's crazy that both these products cause such destructive cancers, never really understood the smokers mentality. Is anything really worth them diseases?

Allot of people in this world don't really value their lives too much "I don't have the guts to do it quickly" is a common reasoning. It's also *really* quite enjoyable both for the taste and the relaxation, it isn't worth it but it's all too easy to convince yourself that you should do it more once you have.

I've always been under the impression that cigarettes were substantially more detrimental for your health when both are looked at as being used in their ''traditional' way.

Cigarettes are typically smoked more often, and even with the filter the consistency of smoking overrides it. They have the risk of lung, throat and mouth cancer - at least most directly.

Cigars are generally smoked more casually, less often, and as someone who once hung out at a cigar lounge and smoked almost daily, I've only met 3 or 4 people who ever actually inhale the smoke.

I think the cancer risk per amount of smoking is about equal. The big difference is that I've never met anyone that chain smokes cigars. One or two a day is more common, as compared to many people that smoke a pack or more of cigarettes each day.

That being said, I personally think cigarettes are gross, although I used to smoke them when i was much younger. A nice cigar at least smells decent.

It's all a probability game. No need to imagine (or hope) there should be a "punishment" for smoking. People make their choices, alter their odds, and roll the dice. It's for society, healthcare, friends, family, etc., to help them make informed, healthy decisions. Beyond that, folks make their own way. If it works out, more power to them, and if not, we have to do what we can to help them out.

I don't smoke. I have tried both though, in a drunken stupor in clubs, and I have to say that cigars actually taste quite nice... at least.. the one I tried. I don't remember much.

Cigarettes, however, even flavoured ones, taste like a pile of rat ****.

But yeah, both are bad. I'll never smoke either on my own or by choice. If I do it's because I'm a bit inebriated and I don't like turning down the person offering. So I suppose that's a testament to how bad the things are! I can only stand 'em when I'm drunk!
