Please see attached photos. What is wrong with my iPhone camera?

Edit - Apple replaced the lens camera for free as it's under warranty. Go Apple!

Try cleaning the lens. If that doesn’t work then something is wrong with your camera
Oh man. I’m on vacation in Italy too.

Cleaning the lens didn’t change anything.

Have you dropped the phone? Internals may be damaged.
I dropped the phone a few months ago. This issue has just started recently. My guess is Apple will say the drop caused it. Gonna have to use my iPad Mini to take photos during my Italy travels. Fingers crossed Apple will replace the phone when I return to the States.

Looks like the lens is dirty to me.

Try cleaning it.
Lens is clean.

Is the lens housing cracked or damaged in anyway? How about anywhere else on the phone? Could be humidity inside of the lens, the housing, or on the sensor itself.

Regardless, there is some sort of damage or compromise to the either the lens or sensor.

No cracks in the lens housing. Only on the back of the phone.

Here is a photo I just took inside a restaurant.

As an update, I got back from Europe last night and went to Apple today. They determined the lens issue was not caused by the crack in my backplate and replaced my camera lens for free. Apple continuing their excellent customer service.

i have the same issue on my iPhone 7 Plus and i never dropped it. it randomly makes washed out or milky or over exposed photos. in general my iPhone 6 photos tend to look better in dark lightning. maybe i have it checked out too

That’s great that they replaced it, but if it’s a defect, then they _should_ replace it. Yes, Apple has great customer service, but your phone is under *warranty*, they would have to address the issue regardless if that’s what they determined, in fact, which they did. Those are two different things.

They could have also easily told me that the lens issue was due to the cracks on the back of the phone (or from the drop that caused the cracks) and asked me to pay for a new lens. The fact that they didn't is a testament to their excellent customer service.
