My sentiments exactly. Another happy MX Revolution and VX Nano owner here.

I have a MX Revolution for my home built PC. I actually love the mouse. Do you feel the Nano is comparable?

I like how it doesn't really take power from bluetooth and how the receiver is so small. How is battery life?

My main problems are battery life and ergonomics of the BT Mighty Mouse. It was nice but I ended up with a VX Nano and I'm much happier now.

Is there anyone who hasn't had trackball issues within the first year? Anyone who still uses the MM and remains happy with it?

I picked one up yesterday and am not sure I want to stick with it if my trackball won't last.

the trackball is getting dirty easily and hard to clean. if you want to go all apple, the mighty mouse's color is not matched with the new mb and mbp. so better get another better mouse instead.

get a laser mouse with higher dpi. it's better especially for working in photoshop or illustrator.

Not for Gaming IMHO

cool cause they have some refurbished online I was thinking may be I should get one.
i think i will

If you like gaming, in which a click at the right second matters, I wouldn't recommend it because sometimes it doesn't recognize right/left click at the first click. Just sharing my experience, other than that, great mouse.

The trackball is easy to clean you just turn it upside down and rub it hard on a soft cloth for a little bit and its good as new.
I use a BT mighty mouse myself being a powerbook user it's handy to have both USB ports free for other things.

My new MBP is coming in the mail. and since it's my first Mac I wanted to go all apple. but I see a lot of people giving negative feed back about the Wireless mouse?

I'm getting the wireless keyboard as well.

Like everything Apple, the wireless mighty mouse ain't perfect, unfortunately. My first mouse had an odd problem with the scrolling nipple but after a complaint and a replacement it's been trouble free!! Current mouse almost 18 months old.

I guess, the trick is to use the mouse with newly washed, grease free fingers and everything will remain just fine, get any dirt or worst grease in there, you're asking for trouble!! :)

Better to roll it on paper, the static electricity will attract the dust to the paper.
Even better, use a printer cleaning sheet cause it's slightly sticky!

I got the mighty mouse, but it just sits in the Draw ever since I got the Logitech revolution. There in no Comparison, the logitech is awesome, before you get a MM, try the logitech out. If you prefer the MM then get it, but do not buy it till u try the Logitech. And if you ever do game, you will need 2 buttons, gaming with the MM is like herding cats....

I have a Revolution mouse, and the only thing that lacks before it's perfect is bluetooth. You can get the MX in a bluetooth-version, but then you have to buy a keyboard with i, which costs close to $300.

I really want a nice mouse for me new MBP, without having to plug in an ugly reciever (even the nano one is not goo enough). I hope they make a new Mighty Mouse soon, to go the Alu/black theme...

I remember starting a thread when Engadget first posted FCC pics of a bluetooth MX Revolution - I was really excited. I'm pretty bummed that they haven't released it as a stand-alone product.

I heard back in the day that some people wanted to use a vx nano receiver with their mx revolution so as to not add bulk to their laptop. Can anyone confirm that the vx nano receiver does indeed support the revolution? I just saw on logitech's site that you can order the receiver by itself for only $10. I would love to pick one up if it works.

I mean having this powerful MBP with 512 Ram for the video card. I think i will be playing games. I looked up that Logitic Revolution and it seems like a better idea and it has a decent size as well.

You made my day!!! The Mighty Mouse was the only thing I complained about my iMac, since the trackball stopped scrolling vertically about 2 months ago. I tried your method and is good as new, thanks a lot :)

The mighty mouse just isn't that great. It doesn't fit in the hand well and has other problems already pointed out. I use this mouse:

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/productdetails.aspx?pid=086

yes it's from M$ but actually it is really good. Fits in one's hand well and actually looks pretty stylish as well. And the batteries seem to last a long time as well. So technically I haven't abandoned Gates altogther...

I had the same dilemma... I recently converted from PC to a new MacBook Pro and I was very leery of buying an apple one-button mighty mouse, but after playing with one at the Apple store and seeing that it has pressure sensitivity for left and right clicks, I decided to go with the mighty mouse. Love it thus far... no problems at all.

I had always felt that the mighty mouse was an inferior mouse. I guess I let many of the comments sway me. Then I tried it.
I now own a wireless one and think it is great. Best mouse I've used yet.

i had chronic hand cramps when using it at first... but now - it no longer hurts and I am buying one for my work pc :)

The Mighty Mouse, wireless or not, is one of the worst mice I've used. I like the concept of the little dot for scrolling but it seems to gather crap quite quickly. A much more annoying thing is that due to the form-over-function design you have to remember to raise your hand from the left key if you want to click the right one because the button that presses it is a single plastic part. Also the squeeze button is just plain awkward.

For that matter I don't like Logitech mice on OSX either. The drivers are crap, you will notice the mouse acceleration problems with them when using a larger screen like a big external monitor. Ironically Microsoft mice don't have this problem, they have their own mouse acceleration so they solve the problem nicely.

The wired Mighty Mouse on my 3 month old Mac Pro is chintzy! In that short time, the scrolling had become erratic more than once. The first symptom of trouble is the ability to scroll up but not down. My temporary fix is to roll the ball in all directions while pressing down hard. I'd much prefer to be able to remove the ball for cleaning like in the old days.

Agreed, I bought the Apple mouse and keyboard at the same time. The keyboard is still going strong, the mouse fell apart about 6 weeks after purchase. It was erratic, collected dirt and dust better than a vacuum and when I tried to clean it, it stopped working altogether. I didn't need to dick with Apple, I needed a mouse NOW so I bought the Microsoft 5000 bluetooth mouse and three months later it still works as good as new. Having dropped it a few times I can also say that the thing is built like a tank. The Apple mouse was a better fit in my hand but what cheap crap.

Am I the only one experiencing BT connection trouble when changing batteries while computer is turned on?

Right now I'm typing from my laptop while iMac sits inoperable because it doesn't pick up on the signal from my MM that I just put new batteries in.

This is the 3rd time I change the batteries and it has been like this every time. The last time I had to force quit everything and reboot iMac.

NOTE: Switching off the wireless keyboard helped! Seems like it kickstarted the BT on the iMac in a way. After shutting off keyboard it paired with my MM, then I switched the keyboard back on and now both are working fine.
But the BT-issue is still relevant, I think. I'm betting this won't be the last time a battery change triggers a frozen arrow on the screen.

NOTENOTE: Apparently my sorrows will be over if I make the keyboard and MM Bluetooth favorites. However it's not quite obvious how to do that. Instructions are here: http://www.macfixitforums.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/448305/Bluetooth_System_Preference_pr

Track ball issues

Is there anyone who hasn't had trackball issues within the first year? Anyone who still uses the MM and remains happy with it?

I picked one up yesterday and am not sure I want to stick with it if my trackball won't last.

I have had my MM two years and had no track ball issues. I keep my hands clean and cover the top of the mouse with a kleenex when I put lotion on my hands until it soaks in. I probably have cleaned it 3 or 4 times in two years, and it has been easy to clean.

But.. just today it died completely.. and I haven't been able to figure out what it wrong. I know the batteries are good..
